since my ipod is now in STV mode, i was wondering what accessories you guys would recommend that i get for my ipod. its a 20GB.
things to look for and things to stay away from?.
i appreciate any input.

I got an iskin, ishade, new phones, tunedock, and an fm transmitter. Basically everything I need to protect it and play music in my car.

yeah i was gonna get a case but i wasnt sure if there are certain makes that are better than other or certain ones that are made out of better materials.

Don't get the iTrip, i have only heard bad things. There are other FM transmitters
Get a case for sure right away.

what are the FM transmitters for anyway? what should i get so i can hook it up to my wife's car stereo? keep in mind i know nothing about cars, i dont drive, never have, dont plan on it so if you try explaining anything to me...just explain in laymens terms.

FM transmitter plugs into your headphone port on your ipod and broadcasts the sound to a selected FM frequency, that way you can tune it in on any radio, including car stereos. This usually does not work well in metro areas with lots of radio traffic.

You definetly need a case. I suggest the Agent18. I also bought the remote which is really handy because I walk a lot and I just keep the ipod on shuffle mode in my pocket and I just use the remote.

you could use it on a boombox if thats what you mean by portable cd player. there is no sense in using it on a discman so i'm guessing thats what you mean.

I'm wondering the same thing. Most of the cases I've seen are so bright. I want some darker colors, like dark blue or dark green. None of this neon stuff.

Go to theistore.com..that should help you. Also, I highly reccomend the XtremeMac Airplay, it's a great FM transmitter that has really worked well for me lol

I agree, I love my itrip. Whatever case you get, make sure it works with your other accesories. Not all cases work with the itrip or the dock.

So, basically most of you recommend iTrip? I'm going home for the summer, and I was thinking of buying one, but the reviews are mostly mixed...
There aren't that many radio stations home, so do you think it's good?
And has anyone bought the camera connector for the iPod photo?

The only downfall of the itrip is that it uses up battery power from your ipod. But i like that it doesn't need another power source. My car has the worst reception, and i was worried it wouldn't work good in it. But it works great. Griffin even has an app you can download to tell you the free signals in your area.

Any experience with the camera connector? I'm most likely going on a trip in my country when I get home, so I'll basically need as much storage as possible (don't want to carry around my notebook pc though).

I don't have any need for the camera connector since i just hook up the camera to the computer. I would be somewhat hesitant if you want to use it as the only storage for your photos. When it transfers the pics to your ipod, i don't know if the ipod keeps the original pic or reformats it. I know you can choose this option in itunes to transfer.

For the dock, i would buy the apple model (off ebay.) Everything else, buy aftermarket.

cool...i cant remember what its but i saw an adapter on the apple store that you plug into the wall and you can charge your ipod up with that.....is that recommended?

That comes with your ipod. The USB cable plugs into it and it plugs into the wall.

I don't really trust most of the cases on ebay. I went with one of lajo's cases. www.Xskn.com. His are cheaper than others, but great cases. His site is a little tough to navigate though. Or you can go with an www.iskin.com

i just like the convience of the dock. Just so my desk isn't so cluttered. Plus it has s-video out. It's just personal preferance.

hmm...maybe ill pass on the dock for now....i had a look at those cases and im definitely going to get one of those from Xskn.com. i wasnt sure about all the different model numbers though....some of them you can tell that theyre different from other but is there a way to find out the changes that have been from previous versions?

my photo ipod is STV and after i saw this post i decided to get on ebay and order a case for it. It was an actual iSkin and cost about $25 shipped, i hope i didnt get ripped off. I also got my belkin FM transmitter today in the mail (also from ebay) and I already love it. I tried it out in my car with the PSP and the sound quality is awesome on music, games, and videos. I cant wait to use it with my ipod as well!

FYI the photo transfer adaptor doesn't reformat or alter your pictures like iTunes does. The downside is that if you have an ipod photo you can't view them on the pod, but the upside is that your stuff will be as good as when it was on the camera.

So if you upload the pics with the adapter, you can't see them on the ipod? That's kinda useless. Apple has some tweaking to do with the ipod photo.
