I want to get a HDTV LCD. Think anyone would trade for a brand new unopened macmini and unopened PSP? That would be about $850 worth of TV.

You could sell those and possibly get a 27" LCD. It wouldn't be HDTV but it would be EDTV and thats close enough. Check out the Syntax brand for cheap good LCD tv's

I think that you should sell both items on e-Bay and get the HD (you may have to add some money but IT's 100% worth it)

Also, if you're going for an HDTV, you might want to not consider LCD. I've got a 20" LCD because its all that will fit in my apartment, I am not happy with the way it shows dark pictures at all. Rear Projection HDTV's are bigger and cheaper and don't really take up that much room but provide a much much better picture.

Unless you can afford a Plasma.

Yeah - my friend has one of this - when were watching this movie (horror). The movie had many dark scenes and it was so hard to see, you have to move and look from different angles to barely see the image

Really? I have heard the blacks are not very black. I won't even consider EDTV, it's all about high def baby. Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to look into some rear projection TV's. Is there a cheap place to mail order them since I live in Butt fuck Egypt or will I get a banged up and broken $900 piece of glass and plastic?

Remember though, the only thing that can display on an HDTV that won't display on a EDTV is High Definition television itself, and you need expensive cable, satellite or another box to get that. DVDs will look just as good on an EDTV and they will on an HDTV.

Not exactly true about the expensive cable, etc. You can get free OTA HDTV if your TV has a built in HD tunner or find one for around $70-$100. OTA basically works like your standard broadcast channels, except its broadcasting in HD. There are many sites out there that tell you how to rig an OTA setup all the way down to what angle you should have your antenna at based on your address.

Get DLP thats what I'm getting in a few months when I move. Clearer and brighter then LCD.

Didn't know HD Boxes were so cheap now, don't you have to buy the antennae too?

But OTA feels so... 70's

The Olivia 27 inch HDTV is only 18 referrals on freeiscreens. That would make it about $900 so, I think there is a chance in hell.

That Olivia is supposed to be a very good LCD too. Whatever you do, make sure you get widescreen.

There are several brands (syntax, sceptre, olivia) whose 30" LCDs are sold in the 800-1000 range every so often. They are HDTV, not EDTV, but the resolution you'll get is 720p at max, not 1080i because the resolution of these screens is usually like 1280x768 or 1366x768. Just make sure to get 3yr warranties with these brands.

If you want better quality, you can get regular (non-flat) HDTVs for 650-850 for 32" 43 or 30" WS HDTVs that do 1080i if you shop around.

I'm tempted to get a 30" LCD, even though you get better bang for buck with a tube...

Thanks for the info hehehe. Yea, I would rather have a tube TV because the picture is better than LCT or plasma.

just my experience as Im shoping for a 32" or 37" LCD myself....I believe the Sharp Aquos (www.sharpusa.com) to be the best in LCD...sure, theyre a few nundred more than the budget models (syntax, westinghouse...etc) but they do have much darker blacks (and good contrast for those dark scenes)...one more thing that really got my attention...sharp is the only brand of LCD that offers user-replaceable bulbs on their models (about $2-300, versus another $2-3000 for a new screen)

PS....the 26" aquos can be purchased online from actual stores for around 1100-1200, 32" sharp screens run around $2000, but well worth the purchase price (as i have seen in their numerous reviews)
