Just wondering if it would be worth attaining for my Athlon XP64 3000+ laptop. I run a ton of programs so if there are compatibility problems then its not for me.

It's a special version of windows optimized for 64bit computers. Computers for about 10 years now have been 32bit but in the last year or so chip makers have been pushing out 64 bit processors which can run more tasks at once. But the 64 bit processors do little differently when using a 32bit OS. So now Windows has a new version of XP out that takes advantage of the 64 bit processors some have.

I have an Athlon 64 desktop and tried XP64 RC1 for about a week when it came out. Most programs I installed seemed to work ok, except for Norton Antivirus. Plus it had drivers for my linksys wireless card, which was cool (I asked linksys about a 64-bit driver and their support was clueless). Anyway I noticed a little difference in speed, but probably partly because Norton wasn't running. Compatibility might be better now, but I don't know for sure. I don't think I want to switch completely over to XP64 yet, I am still dual-booting for now.

Thats another reason I havent installed yet there is no major support for 64bit yet.
