I saw this movie yesterday and it was one of the best movies i have ever seen. It is filmed in Brazil and its in Portuges (spli) its a foriegn film (yes you have to read subtitles). Its about kids living in the slums of Rio in the 60's and 70's and living in poverty, prostitution, drugs, and gangs. This is also based on a true story. http//www.miramax.com/cityofgod/ if you havent seen this movie you absolutly should its amazing. Stroid gives its 10 thumbs up!!! D

guys, I saw this movie in a theater and it was fucking SICK (although a bit long, almost 3 hours I think). Portugese language is beautiful, IMO, I love hearing it. I second this advice, rent it! I have it on DVD too.

i saw this a long time ago and i fuckin love it!
the story is very well told and its interesting and keeps you involved all the way through. its also beautifully filmed.

I got to see it before it hit the US theaters a while back. I agree that it is an awesome movie. We need a movies/TV forum section!

same here. netflix is always available. I hated blockbuster, extremely slow shipping, with netflix, i get their CD the next day (the day after they ship it..) blockbuster took at least 2 days, and once a DVD didn't come for 4 days..

Actually, surprisingly, no! I rented it and watched it at my sisters' apartment.
And regarding the bumping old threads it's better than creating new ones.

I wasn't criticizing you for bumping an old thread, but just pointing out that you bumped a couple old threads recently ;) In fact I always try to bump relevant threads than waste resources with new topics.
