EDIT check page 2 for my updated (request) post.

sorry if this has been done before.

we could make this the suggestions thread. suggestions on how to make this site better. but not just "hacks" like the admin has been doing already (which dont get me wrong are great and i dont think anyone will complain about).

id like to see a board just about the offers on the sites we do. there could be a list of the offers on each site so that everyone has it handy. i know i would appreciate it cos i would then know if i can sign up for someones site and do an offer on it or not. i know theres a site that has all the offers on it, but i dont believe they tell you which offers are on which sites.

so post your suggestions here and maybe some of the mods or the admin might see them.

ya a board dedicated to the current offers that can be maintained by a mod and members by members posting any changes in offers would be kinda cool =)

I agree, just had to post a thread about OC offers, and having a board dedicated to offers is nice idea!

theysayjump

28-04-2005 11:53:53

a help board for all help issues instead of just technical issues board for gratis?

i like the offer board idea... nice

Godrockdj

-- I agree with the above and want to expand on it. We could use boards for other networks and sites so that the whole off-topic forum isn't filled with "Is this site legitz?????" and stuff like that. At least expand the OC forum and make a few for the known legit sites, and maybe one for the sites "Under consideration".

-- A way for the board members to get to know each other more! Like a weekly member spotlight or something! Admin could pick an outstanding contributing member 1x a week (or less) they could fill out a little bio, what they've earned, personal tips on getting free stuff, etc. I think it would really promote a spirit of community. It could be a link that everyone can see, such as under the rss feed

-- Contests?

The chat link should be moved to the top instead of hidden at the bottom and more people should use it so I dont have to talk to myself

There should be a idiot screening process. Weed out all the kids and scammers.

So we don't have my dad said I can't sign up for any offers with his credit card

i understand that you would want a offers forum and that great and all but none of you seem to realize the upkeep involved with a forum. For example the TR forum is extremly difficult to maintain i almost want to get rid of it but offcourse i wouldnt. I am a full time college student and many of the mods and admins are full time students to so upkeep is difficult. And as far as offers go some people have had good experiences with some offers and others have had bad experiences.

I definitely hear what you're saying. Keeping all of us in line can be a full-time job ;) How about a few more mods, maybe?

yeah i also understand that its a hell of a lot of work......but there could definitely be more mods on this site, even if you didnt use any of our suggestions.

im sure there are people who would love to be a mod here, and surely the more mods, the better the site no? more people in charge to weed out the scammers and keep the newbies in line.

other suggestions ive been thinking of

a board with all the proven legit sites, unproven sites and sites that are proven to be a scam.

a feature on the profiles where users can enter what sites theyve completed and not completed and are maybe looking for.

i had more but cant find the piece of paper i wrote them on. oh well.

thanks for at least taking the time to read them Stroid! its much appreciated. D

not sure if im being dumb here but would there be any way to have the site so that if any potential members want to join, then they have to read the rules 1st? or would that deter people from actually joining. or do you even care?

what about a new colour scheme? D

slease

28-04-2005 23:20:58

This site thrives on newbies, thats where we all get our trades from, why make it harder for them to join? They all catch on after a couple trades, and does it really hurt to explain things to them and give them pointers?

theysayjump

28-04-2005 23:26:33

no it doesnt, but a lot of them dont read the rules, get scammed and then dont stay on cos they think they might get scammed again.....but like i said i thought it might deter them from actually joining....thats why i asked what anyone thought. D

That's already used here. When someone new registers and visits the forum the first time they are shown this

[quoteb0d6e240a9]Please, Please, PLEASE READ THE RULES. Here's a summary if you are too dense 1) DO NOT POST ANY LINKS IF CLICKING THEM WILL BENEFIT YOU. EXTREME STUPIDITY WILL RESULT IN A BAN. [/quoteb0d6e240a9]

when you reply to a post you can go to the bottom of the screen and you can look though all the posts that have been made in that thread so far.

i think this would also be helpful if it could be used when PM'ing people too. it could show the message you are replying to, or all the messages between yourself and the person you are PM'ing. i for one would definitely find it useful.

I guess no one caught the "Don Maclean - Bye Bye Miss American Pie" quote in my post...oh well. Anyhow, I'm not sure I was every actually offered FIPG (prepare for a pretty bad ass word) Moderatorship, but I wouldn't have turned it down. My forums used to be a bit more time consuming...now, when people post (which isn't nearly often enough), they pretty much follow the rules. Thanks for the support, though. )

ok i dont wanna piss anyone off (mods, admin) by pushing this, but i really think a board about which offers are available on which sites would be a very, very helpful addition to this site. i honestly understand how much work goes into maintaining this site, and i also understand that people have lives outside of this site (how dare they?) and cant always be here to check up on these kinds of things.........if anyone can think of a bad reason for having this board, complications with having it or any kind of issues then please post. like i said im not trying to piss anyone off by pushing it. if it wont work, then thats fine, but i thought id at least ask again.

thanks

www.freeoffersnow.net/offers.html - I've got a CMS (Content Management System) in the works (thanks to jadem's boyfriend) that which once its completed I will be able to keep the list [i15fa7a7b93]very[/i15fa7a7b93] up-to-date. Until then, its a static html page which I hand coded not too too long ago - so it should be fairly up to date.

Well, the offers list will probably look about like that but be much more updated...as far as listing which offers are available on which sites - that would be extremely difficult to keep accurate, but we'll see what happens.

why would it take alot of work?....i really dont understand maintaining sites and what has to be done and shit.

Well, the CMS will be done soon, but its out of my hands so I cannot give a specific date. As far as why it takes alot of work to run maintain a website, say I never updated my website - all of the information would be out-of-date, rendering the site useless. Take the "Good Traders List" for example...say it is updated once a week...thats not a very long wait, but you still see people complaining about their TR's. It's difficult to explain if you don't understand it, I'm just trying to give you some idea of the time and energy websites (which thrive on up-to-date information) demand.

theysayjump

04-05-2005 11:26:05

no i understand that part.....i just didnt know if it was technically not possible to do it (keep an up to date list off which offers are on which sites) or not.

Well, theoretically keeping an real-time list wouldn't be possible unless there was some type of webservice available to monitor them, therefore the only way to do it now would be to update them manually. Because Gratis uses a rotation, and offers change so quickly, it might be difficult to do.

theysayjump
