that depends on your computer

so it has nothing to do with internet speed? And how about transfering music how long on that?

you don't have to be on the internet to transfer music from iTunes to the iPod, therefore...your internet connection speed has nothing to do with the time it will take to transfer the song(s). The time it takes to complete the transfer will depend on your computer speed and resources.

If you BUY music through iTunes then your bandwidth will obviously determine how fast your purchased music gets downloaded. At Apple's bitrate for iTunes songs expect 3.5MB to 4MB per average length song. I'm sure you've probably downloaded something of that size before, so that should give you an idea of how long it will take download one song.

As was already said, the music already on your harddrive doesn't require internet access to play or transfer to your iPod.

I feel your pain man, I had it for 3 years. Just got DSL back in August I believe. We wouldn't be able to have dial-up here again though seeing we have 3 computers hooked up to the internet.
