Thing is in order to hack he has to find a loose port that is not being covered up by fws and such. And to overrun your bios i dunno about that, its not like its going to screw up your computer entirely, you can alawys get a new bios chip from your mobos manafactuer, it should be really hard to overrun your bios. Just tell the hacker your running a dual bios gigabyte mobo or something. But yea i have yet to hear of a virus that overruns your bios.....funny stuff

No, its just like when you flash your bios, if you mess up you cant get it back unless you have a backup, the bios is a chip in there kinda like a hard drive but its flash memory, more similar to how the ipod shuffles work, but its alawys restorable if you know how and such.

The Chernobyl Virus was the last one I heard of that can overwrite the bios. but that was back in 1998. it was originally called the CIH virus. That is probably what he was talking about.

But I don't think a 7 year old virus could get through your scanners though. )

3. SP2 has its own protections
4. Norton Security Center
5. On the occasion Zone Alarm security suite

Most modern motherboards have overwrite protection which won't let anything overwrite the bios unless you turn the feature off manually. Pretty funny log though. Nice work woody P

I tried over and over again to flash my BIOS a few months back, thought I had downloaded wrong, downloaded it again...tried different floppies...then realized i had to move a jumper on the mobo. DUH.

Yeah this skript kiddy prolly doesn't even know what the BIOS really is...

I love how Abit motherboards lets you manually adjust easy FSB unlike my a7n8x-E Deluxe only by the major incriments of 100, 133, 166, 200. Maxes out at 200 which is what im currently using to OC my 2500+ Barton to a 2.19Ghz ~3200+

I would like to see him get passed my Colleges defenses, im taking Cisco so they showed us the network room for the college and it is tighter then hell. They have like 2 racks full of security boxes, and 3 racks of UPS's.

And on thoose firewalls all you need is one Server program running with a known exploit and it goes to hell ).
