PSP --- Internet Games?

For those of you who have purchased or received your PSPs... I am looking to purchase my next set of games. I am looking for something that offers ONLINE multiplayer. Not standard multiplayer --- cause not many people I know have them yet. Rather something that can be played over the internet.

I know there are only a few titles that offer internet-based online play, so I am looking for experienced feedback.

Which ones are "must-haves" and which ones should I forget about?

I LOVE Wipeout! I only wish that I could play it online....

Thanks!

Twisted Metal Head On and NBA both have online play.

doesn't Tiger Woods Golf have online play also?

Thanks for the responses.... I've seen the list of games that are capable of Internet play. But has anyone had any experience using them in such a manner?

I'm looking for recommendations on what is really worth buying. I wasted $40 on Metal Gear Acid (game sux) and don't want to do the same looking for my next set.

Just looking for someone who has played some online.

Thanks!

This could make things VERY interesting. I have used their software to play Xbox games online. I need to test out the PSP tonight. I'll let those of you who might be interested know how I make out.

This could essentially make Wipeout and some of the other local network games much more enjoyable.

Here are the ones that I know of

[list4b1ea266a5]MLB
NBA
Gretzky NHL
Tiger Woods
ATV Offroad Fury Blazin' Trails
Twisted Metal Head-On[/listu4b1ea266a5]
But this EA retraction makes it seem that online play with their games is a "false statement" printed on their boxes.
[quote4b1ea266a5]"Unfortunately, there are no PSP titles at this time that support any online play. There has been a misprint on all of the boxes for our launch titles and this mode is not supported. Although Infrastructure mode is not supported, the Ad Hoc multiplayer mode will work on all of our launch titles provided that each player has their own copy of the game."[/quote4b1ea266a5]

It seems as if XLink Kai is the best option for now. I'll try it out tonight....

Twisted Metal Head On has had some major problems in "Infrastructure Mode". For some people, the network works and then dies aftera couple of days.

I'm hooked up on Xlink Kai[=http//www.teamxlink.co.uk/]Xlink Kai, but the number of players is pretty low. If anyone is interested in trying Wipeout Pure online... look me up.

no0ne2k, if I have time tonight, I'll see what I can do with you. Do they have Lumines online?

Yeah, Kai & XBConnect both support the PSP and most of the LAN-capable games. The way the software works is it allows a PC to act as a bridge between your game console (i.e. PSP, Xbox, PS2, etc) and the Internet. The software makes your console think that the PC is actually another game console and will allow you to connect to Internet users as if they were on the same LAN as you.

The problem with the PSP is that the setup is not very straight forward. The Ad Hoc requirements of the "online" games make the configuration very tricky.

You have to build a wireless Ad Hoc connection between the PSP and the PC and then a hardwire (or seperate WLAN) connection to your internet provider.

Not all wireless cards are supported by the tunneling software and in many cases cannot complete the connection. I have several wireless options (Dell w Integrated Intel WLAN, Compaq with Integrated Intel WLAN, and Cisco Aironet 350), but have yet to make one work. I can associate my PSP and PCs with no problem. But the PSP is never detected by Kai or XBConnect. I may have to run out and pick up one of the "supported" cards and try with that.

If anyone else is wanting to test, here are some good links that I have found through my research

no0ne2k, I'm going to test it later, but I don't have much time tonight. Setup looks quite difficult.

Yeah, it has definitely been a pain in the a$$ so far. Not as straight-forward as the setup on Xbox.

I'll let you know (and built a how to) if I get it working correctly with mine.

I got mine working yesterday finally. It's usually hard to find a game since not a lot of people have it working.

mattwz, which tunnel are you using?

I am pleased to report that I have Wipeout working through Kai. Apparently you HAVE to use a supported card (with Prism drivers). Once I did that, it worked like a charm.

Online play rocks!!!! 8)

I'm using Kai Xlink. I tried a D-Link DWL-650+ and a SMC 2635W, both didn't work. I found my old Linksys WPC11, which I thought was no longer working, and I was supprised it actually worked. Too bad you need certain cards for it to work, or there would be a lot more people on.

It was my DLink DWL-520 that did it for me.

Check for me online... I'll most likely be playing again tonight. It was a blast yesterday.

mvn_t@rget on Kai.

Thanks!
