I've removed my AIM sn from my profile as a precautionary measure, since it seems the majority of impersonators are people who just read through this forum and just hit the AIM button at the bottom of your post.

I now PM my AIM sn to people I'm trading with, which cuts down significantly on the random undesired, and scamming IMs. I might suggest you do the same, particularly given FONs and Woods' situations.

Agreed. Most of the trades I've done lately anyway have been through PM and have gone just fine.

and to clarify, I don't mind giving my SN out, and actually prefer to IM with someone before I trade, but there's no reason to just have it out there, IMO.

if you want to talk to someone on aim.. i always ask for the user name, then go check to see their profile and see if they have the aim button. if they do, i check that and see if its actually them. if they dont, just ask for a pm from the person.. if they are trying to play a trick on you by using number one instead of letter I (ex. "1" and "I") then just copy and paste the user name from the pm they sent you and search for them, go to the profile and see if it is really the person.. if you do it through aim.. its best to pm each other your ref link and confirm you are doing the trade.. that way if you need to prove anything to a mod you can.

I agree, the only people that normally im me are people who aren't members of the forums. Then when you ask them where they got your name from, they list all of the free site forums & most I'm not even apart of.

I took mine down once b/c I was tired of scammers & newbs IMing me but I actually put it back up b/c I think it's funny when people try to get over on you. It's funny to go back and read the aim logs lol
They do like to im you at 3 in the morning for some reason though ?

Just to be clear and follow up, I will never AIM you without first PMing you here to see if you're interested in a trade or whatever, unless we've already traded and I have your SN.

yea I do the same thing as JJPRO11 does, go to the users profile and click on he aim button, if it pops the same aim window your talking on, its not a scammer. Back-up plan is ask for a PM, i caught somebody once this way too.
