ok...i dont know if this has happened to anyone else...but awhile ago I downloaded Ad-aware and Spybot and had them clean out my computer....ever since that time I haven't been able to access any websites like metareward that use cookies to track offers. (which in turn makes me have to complete my offers at work when my dumb home computer won't work)

I've gotten rid of both programs...and even had them restore the "spyware" and it still didn't work...(i now use microsoft's spyware program and mcafee..)

did this happen to anyone else...and if so...how did u fix it??

Thanks to anyone who helps! You'll make my life much easier lol

you shouldnt've deleted the programs, you might want to try and get help at lavasoft's forums.

yes but the log file on ad-aware is what you needed, and i think that when uninstalled it gets deleted.

I've never had that happen to me, but it sounds like more of a browser problem. First check to make sure your browser is set to accept cookies and the like. Even if you had some fairly malicious adware or malware, I can't imagine how deleting them would alter your cookies.

yeah i've made sure of that..it's just that rigth after i did the scan..the websites stopped working...

i've even set my security as low as possible...and it still wont work..

and i even put them as trusted sites....nothing worked...

ad-aware has been known to cause problems.

On one of my friend's computers it took out their flash player (couldn't even install it again..)
and on another friend's it disabled the interent connection for some reason.

I think that sometimes the spyware/adware will take something with it when it goes, haha

lol that happened to a friend of mine...her computer will only work if she has some spyware on it...otherwise...her internet won't work....how annoying...

it's just weird...because i let it restore all the stuff back...

Ad-aware and Spybot are fine what browser are you using? Also make sure that your browser isn't blocking cookies, and then disable Mcaffe when doing an offer because it seemsto block cookies as well also if you have spysweeper disable that to but Adaware and Spybot are fine.

i've used IE, mozilla, and firefox and all 3 don't work...i disabled everything and it still doesn't work...

and believe me I know...my browsers are set to accept all cookies...

whats weird is that when I use AOL (i signed up for a free trial..no i dont pay for AOL lol) it lets me access the websites..even when i have all my programs running...but when I use AOL i never receive credit for offers...at least not from prizecube...

like I said, you should look for support on lavasoft's forums.

if you have XP, what you can do is create a new account, IE and all the other apps will be there and they will be fresh so that should help you out. If not then i dont know what you can do man, sorry...

Have you tried checking to see that your restricted sites list is empty?

Go to Internet Options
Select the Security tab
Click the red circle for Restricted Sites
Click the Sites... button just below that
If there are sites in there(there may be a LOT of them), that may be what you have to delete.

What I do for maximum security is leave my restricted sites alone until I need to do an offer. Then I watch the status bar at the bottom of the screen in IE. When I'm doing an offer, if a red circle pops up at the lower right, I double-click it and it shows me what sites are being blocked. I then use the Settings option in that box to remove the sites from the Restricted list. Then I reload the page--if the red circle doesn't go away, try closing the window and opening the site from scratch. If the circle is there again, it's blocking something different, so I open the settings again to remove the new site.

Also, in Internet Settings, there's a Privacy tab.
Click the Sites... button under that and remove all the sites that are in that list(it shoudl be shorter than the restricted sites list).

HTH.
