Does anybody know of any "free sites" that offer any external hard drives as their reward? I'd love to know because I plan on leaving my job soon (of 3 years) and I need to get all of my junk off of the work comp.

LOL! If you have an iPod, just clear the music and put it on there. It functions as an external drive. I need a good external hard drive for my Mac Mini, but I need a GOOD one, not a use-once.

Wow.....I feel like an idiot. Well, problem solved! Thanks PodTopia. Though a free one would still be nice; I wouldn't just use it once )

Anytime. The iPod is much more than just a music player, and when PodTopia is released, you'll see a whole other side of the iPod.

just use an internal one with a case from dealsonic.com. works awesome.

Word of caution with using the iPod as an ext. drive... it's main purpose wasn't designed for that.. at least for heavy or full time use.
The easiest and chepest way is to do what Archon810 suggested. You can get the drive size you want for pretty good prices vs. buying a name brand external.
External cases are not that much and come with drivers for USB connectivity. Some cases also support firewire.

What external hard drive case do you guys recommend? I'm looking into this because I have a 120GB hard drive installed in my comp but I am currently not using it because I don't have the raid installed.

i have 2 one basic with blue LED strip from dealsonic, works great, but it's bulky.
another one, a much slimmer version, by Apricot or something. Was $79.99 but got it in Fry's on sale for $19.99, crazy deal. It incredible. I run my 40GB backup on it with Symantec Livestate that makes incremental backups every day (the files that changed), so I can go back to any day of the previous month and mount it as a drive.

LOL, I'm tryin' to create a buzz (just on here for now). Later on, I may pay some of you or w/e to generate buzz on other forums you visit. The iPod giveaway should also fuel traffic.

I've never heard of a free external hd site but man would that be sweet.
I'd hunt down refs in a heartbeat.
