So I'm trying to convince some friends at college to sign up for some of these things. However, we all have the same WAN IP. Has anyone had success getting prizes in this case? Or are we going to have to wait till we get apartments?

Not speaking for Trainn, but you should be fine. Most sites can distinguish between same-school-network vs same-dorm-room-PC, and I believe Alan has specifically said as much here before. Just be sure keep each person's activities confined to their individual PCs, and DO NOT share a PC for this stuff.

Well, does that mean referring my roommate would be invalidated? We have separate ethernet jacks -/ But he would be using a different credit card and all.

Yes, that is forbidden by the TOS of virtually all freebie sites. Limit one sign-up per household. Roommates are considered "same household."
