I am just wondering if my Paypal Verified in my Sig. is considered a referal link? I am not trying to refer anyone to paypal just to prove I am legit is all. I do not want to get into trouble and get banned and that is why I am asking first. Please let me know and I will remove it asap if it causes a problem.

Just take out the link on the image )

Edit Actually i'm not sure how paypal images work...couldn't you just download that image and host it yourself ...? So in essence anyone can say they are paypal verified?

If i took out the link nobody would know it was me that was verfied? I mean whats the point of trying to be legit when you can't prove you are. Does this make sense?

When you get the link from paypal you HAVE to be logged in else you cannot get the code to put the verification seal in the first place. wink

Ok I get it now but just to let you know...being paypal verified doesn't make you legit...it's just nice and most people require it.

That's true. All you need is a bank account. I've seen some PayPal users with name such as "baseballpro" or something be PayPal verified because they connected their bank account to PayPal. So Verified PayPal doesn't mean too much.

Not even if its Premier?

Premier and Verified are two different things. To get a Premier account you have to be Verified, but being Premier doesn't carry any more indicator of trustworthiness than a Verified Personal account does. The primary reason to upgrade to Premier is to remove the limitations of the Personal account.

What would a person's account name have to do with their integrity? Lots of folks use nicks and handles for their eBay and PayPal accounts. That doesn't really indicate anything either.

Verified accounts are slightly more trustworthy than unverified accounts, simply because you know the person qualified for or has access to a bank account. However it doesn't mean they won't steal your money or otherwise try to scam you -- it happens all the time.

I'm pretty sure dmorris said in order to be premier, you have TO BE verified.

Exactly. At least I recall verification to be a requirement, but I could be wrong.

Ebay accounts allow you to make a user name, but you don't make any monetary transactions between other users (at least not in my experience since I've always used PayPal or credit cards). PayPal too allows you to make a user name (in the form of an e-mail address). However, with PayPal, you actually deal with sending/receiving money. I would feel a lot safer knowing that the name (not the e-mail) provided is the correct name of the person I'm completing a transaction with. If PayPal required the name match the bank account, I would feel more comfortable because I know that user is willing to show his personal information in case something goes wrong.
