I am looking to buy a bunch of cd's and I was wondering how I should go about it so that I would pay the least amount of money for them. Should I just go to the store and buy them, join a club like BMG, or try to find them on eBay. Any information on the subject would be helpful.

Clubs, probably. There are also occasional CD deals mentioned on SlickDeals too. News about eTailers that have sales etc.

Clubs are a good way to build up a collection quick. Make sure you get offer credit for signing up though. Use ebay for those hard to find CDs that the clubs might not have.

I'd recommend the BMG club. You get a bunch of cd's free but pay shipping & handling. It's easy to fulfill your membership requirements and they often have exclusive member sales. I've seen it as an offer on many sites, even for a full credit.

I'd recommend BMG for the intro offer and minimal commitment (only have to purchase 1 full price CD).

Then join YourMusic.com -- its BMG but with no commitment other than you must buy 1 CD per month. However regular CD's are only $6.99, no tax, no shipping. It's like Blockbuster or Netflix where you add CD's to a queue and every month they ship the next CD and charge you $6.99. You have to be sure to keep your queue full or they'll still charge you $6.99 without shipping anything. You can also buy additional CD's at $6.99 at any time, you don't have to wait until the next month.

Both BMG and YourMusic are popular freebie offers so you can kill two birds so to speak... ;)

Thanks for all the advice D . I will be looking into signing up for the BMG offer now since it is like blockbuster online (which is the best thing on earth). I cant wait!!

Just to clarify in case you misunderstood YourMusic has a queue like Blockbuster, the BMG club does not.

Thanks for the clarification! I did misunderstand. I guess I will look into YourMusic now more than BMG because I like the queue option. Thank you Dmorris68.

BMG is great if you want to get 10-15 CDs for a low price in a relatively short period of time. Your music is probably better if you just want to keep up on new releases every month.

Just to be thorough, in case you're like me and you don't mind not having physical CDs. Albums are also cheap to download from Napster or Yahoo music, etc.

Ebay is great for those hard to find CD's and Videos. But you do not get a sign up credit. Both offers are nice.

eBay used to be an offer. At YFD sites you could sign up and BIN on two items.

eBay, Half.com and Amazon are where I buy most of my cds and dvds.

Anybody have a good option for finding out of publication music (probably not on CD)??? I have been looking for years for a specific title. The group is Marty McCall and Fireworks, and the album title is "Up". I had it on cassette, but played it so much I wore it out, and can't find it anywhere. It was pre-CD, so cassette is probably the only option (don't have a needle for my record player !!). Any help I can get would be great.

Thanks,
Laurel

Hi Laurel,

I wasn't able to pull up any information on them in my venues ie Limewire, Mymusic.com etc. I'd suggest you go to eBay and go through the "want it now," process, and list exactly what you are looking for, chances are someone will have it. I found an old vhs tape that way, and had numerous replies. It actually shocked me as to how many people had the item, as it was rare! Good luck wink

Look for it on ebay or see if your favorite songs are available on some sort of compilation CD. I did a google search for it and found references to that album but I didn't find it for sale.
