Has anyone tried using this yet? Apparently, you can get to it by going here https//www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_vdc-profile (link on profile page), but all that does for me is reload the profile page...

Those of you who have got it to work, what did you do to get it to work?
Also, hows it been working out so far?

scream12342

20-05-2007 12:25:24

I don't really like it because it doesn't give you a CVV2 number and most sites require that. Most of the time though, the CVV2 000 works, but then again, it always doesn't.

shakamd

20-05-2007 12:30:44

ahh thats crucial... when you say most sites, do you mean offers? Would it work at regular online retail stores like newegg?

So how did you get it to work? Did you just cick that link I posted above?

patrick_7412

You have to DL a program and link your PayPal e-mail address to it. When you are ready to purchase something, you have to click "generate new card #" or something along those lines, and you have your CC # to enter )

shakamd

20-05-2007 15:02:01

I cant get to the download link to that program though! Everytime I try clicking https//www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_vdc-profile all it does is load up my profile page! /

Are you a business account? It appears that is needed to set up the vdc

I'm actually a premier account.. Can I do a business account even if I don't own a business? (actually I offer webdesign services at DigitalBound.net)

I'm trying to see what extra fees they charge for business...

moviemadnessman

20-05-2007 15:16:33

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can.

As for the fees, I think they are also the same as a premiere https//www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside

Just upgraded to business, still having the same issue >_<

Hmmmm ... did you follow the steps that I linked to in the first post I made?

shakamd

20-05-2007 15:33:25

You mean submit the Virtual Terminal application? No, I haven't done that yet.. is it really neccessary? Seems like an awful lot of hassle for a virtual credit. Are you sure this is how you do it?

moviemadnessman

20-05-2007 15:37:35

No, I am not sure. But then again, is it really so much to do to have a virtual credit card? You file the "paperwork" to get all the credit cards you need ... just like any real credit card.

Like I said, though, I don't know. I don't use the system, myself.

shakamd

20-05-2007 15:44:26

I'll hold off on the virtual terminal for now because I might have to fax documentation that I don't have, maybe a support ticket will do the job.

scream and patrick, are you both on business accounts?

I just read through this topic after getting back, and I said to myself "WTF are they talking about".

I logged into PayPal, clicked "PayPal Virtual Debit Card" on the left side, clicked download, installed it, selected a security image, clicked next twice, clicked launch, entered my E-mail & PW, it imported my info, I pressed continue, clicked the "PP" logo in task bar, logged in again, and it gave me my name, CC#, Exp Date, CVC #, Account Balance, backup funding, and a button that says "Fill Form". Nothing more...

And talk about a run on sentence lol dance

Oh ya, I have a premier account. I DO think you need a linked bank account, that's it though..

shakamd

20-05-2007 16:23:28

I dont have an option on the left that says 'PayPal Virtual Debit Card'. The only mention of a virtual debit card is on my account profile page, and when I click that, my profile page just reloads.

patrick_7412

20-05-2007 16:45:42

Do you have a confirmed bank account added?

shakamd

20-05-2007 16:47:48

Yup, bank account confirmed and I'm verified. Just upgraded to business too, still not working.

patrick_7412

20-05-2007 16:51:34

I would suggest calling up PayPal support then. I can't help you any more than I have (

Good luck..

Yeah, I submitted a ticket earlier, if they dont reply within a few days then i'll call em up.

Eh, I wouldn't even try to wait. You'll get some automated response or something. I would just call them up, they are typically friendly )

theres already a thread about this. Use the search in the off-topic section to find it.

I had a problem installing it as well, and since it was a beta version, they emailed me saying they were sorry and stuff and gave me a $5 coupon for certain stores.

20-05-2007 20:08:36

lol shak you already have obopay man! AIM me tomorrow ill tell you details about it! peace cuz!

shakamd

20-05-2007 20:53:52

Not too sure about obopay, i'll roll with paypal for now ;P

I'll call em up tommorow and have em do it manually... also, do these virtual cards have a spending limit? I know you can only do $150 a day on paypal.com/vdebit

lorny35

21-05-2007 12:15:34

Why don't you just get an actual debit card from paypal instead? It has the cvv2 number on it, and so does the obopay one. I use mine for everything. Never had a problem. I have a business account with paypal, and I can withdraw up to $300 per day out of an atm, and have a $2000 per day spending limit. (Like I would ever have that much money in there)I got my obopay card in about 6 days, and had the paypal one in about 4.

Just my 2 cents, but seems like it would be alot less hassle wink

You're wrong. PayPal's new virtual debit card (not the old one), but the one you can download, has a CVV2 number. It has everything on it that a normal physical debit card has, and it can basically be used at any store/site online that accepts Mastercard.

Oh, and here's the topic that I made a while back about their new virtual debit card.

hmm. That's very interesting. I guess personally I just like to have "plastic in hand"..so to speak. That way I can use it for the outrageous gas prices, groceries etc. Good to know though.

21-05-2007 12:38:46

Their virtual card still has trouble with some offers if you're using it for that. I tried...some offers it worked...some offers said the info was invalid but still charged me.

TFOAF

21-05-2007 12:42:56

What I've been wondering though...was that

Since your number changes every time you use the card, or after you exit your number goes away...can the offer/company re-charge you if it's a subscription/monthly payment type of thing (since the card number is not valid anymore)?

i was just going to post about my nightmare with paypal and their new virtual credit card.

DON'T FUCKING USE THIS THING OR YOU WILL GET FUCKED!!!!

i don't know how in the fuck i'm going to clean my mess up since i have not been on top of things but i have like 2+ fucking pages of paypal transactions from may alone and there are companies that have taken money from me that i don't even know of.

ok so with this piece of shit you have to add a source for the backup funding. you can have 0 in your account and you can still make purchases instantly debited from your bank.

last month i thought i would try this thing out based on their sales pitch, supposed advantage over their debit card, which i have.

doing some offers went fine for me, i liked the idea of the one use numbers because i don't have to have a paypal balance and can then decide when to transfer where based on need, over leaving a bunch in for the debit card, which you need a balance to cover for.

so the one use numbers aren't that at all. you could use one, then keep it using it at other merchants until the fucking ap closes. guess what, all this time later and those fucking scumbag companies can keep charging your original number.

paypal sucks cock compared to a real credit card company when it comes to money taken from you and filling out these forms, etc. against rogue companies.

now in my recent case, i did follow the terms for a few companies, i didn't want their shit so did what i needed to do. well they fucked me some how and have kept dinging me for money. boom boom boom, straight from my bank every time. i have been in and out and haven't noticed how bad it was.

that and on top of it somebody has compromised my information badly. i have a handfull of transactions for example for true.com for like 49.95 each. well i don't even load these fucking offers, and im no member there even. there are other wierd ones as well. i sure as fuck dont remember any terms where i let a company sign me up for shit without asking.

anyways don't fucking use the thing, you aren't in control and you will get fucked eventually.

i told paypal to fucking lock all this shit down and not let any of them even work for me, and what do you know it continues to happen even as recent as today. in your profile you have to have a backup source so you can't disable shit.

fucking bullshit

moviemadnessman

23-05-2007 00:27:28

All I can say is that sucks. Sorry that's happened to you. I thought Paypal emailed you when a transaction occurs, though, so that you can stay on top of things like this. Do they not email you?

Damac, your post would have been a lot more helpful (and much easier to read) if you would limit the use of your profanity. Yes, I understand that you are upset with them, but realistically, none of us did it to you, so why should we have to read Flilili this and Flilili that over and over again?????? And I'm sure that PayPal does not do any of the anatomically impossible things you are suggesting..........

TFOAF

23-05-2007 10:51:48

All I can say is that I figured that they would be able to charge your old number, since it is "attached" to your account from the time you used it.

23-05-2007 11:48:20

Wow i've changed my mind.. I'm gonna stick to prepaids after all.

23-05-2007 11:59:53

Hmmm, were all the old original virtual debit card numbers wiped out when they dropped the program, and came back with the premier/business beta version?

I ask, because the original non-CVV2 number never changed, and I didn't need to open sites in frames to use it. I guess it might have expired by now though. shrug

I registered just to warn you about this thing. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went through the SAME EXACT THING for over 2 months. You need to continue speaking to a supervisor until they transfer you to the department which handles this issue. Once there continue asking for a supervisor until you get to a manager. Once you get a manager they may or maynot have access to delete the virtual debit card from your account. If not you will need to wait for a general manager and they will typical send the request in the morning. Repeat the process in the morning to ensure its been removed from your account. Make sure you specify VIRTUAL debit call. They continually refer to it as a paypal physical debit card which will even show on your transactions and thats completely wrong,. Mine did and I do not even have a paypal physical debit card at all. You will need to fill affidavides to get the paypal money back into your paypal account. If it hit your bank account your best bet is to talk to the bank themselves. Ive been dealing with paypal for 2 months now and gotten nowhere spoke to bank of america 2 days and I will have ALL my money plus NSF fees back the beginning of next week. Basically BOA demands the money back from paypal and forces them to resolve the rest of the issue.

Best luck to you. I got hit for over $2000 from this garbage, DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE DO NOT USE

A long time ago (I haven't used it in forever), I did use it for my offers, and it was super hard, half of them accepted it because of the CVV2 issue, and they charge you like hellfire. Now, it sounds even more complicated even though they have the CVV2...

23-05-2007 17:55:04

I have a paypal physical debit and I do not have it attached to my bank account. I'd rather use my regular bank account debit then have a paypal debit automatically deducting from my bank account. Paypal service is just not good enough for this.

Using prepaids is fine if you keep it funded so that any payments you are responsible for are collected. If you just let the funds run out and assume that all will be well and good you are wrong. When these sponsors legitimately take a payment from you they will go after you if your card doesn't work. See http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?p=657418[]http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?p=657418 for a person that didn't take the offers seriously. He's now on the verge of collections and having his credit ruined.

TFOAF

24-05-2007 14:06:37

I've never had a single problem using PayPal's physical debit card. In fact, it's what I use all the time for most of the stores and places I go to. Never had a problem with PayPal either.

Since it changes your card number each time can the company come back and charge you months later on that card..Say my card is good thru 7/07 can they come back in 8/07 and charge me for it or will paypal reject the charge?
