About a Friendly Bump?

I would like to know how it works or is allowed please.
I am not sure how many bumps can be done for somebody/others in a day or week for instance, and how many bumps can be receive also, or under what reasons/conditions. It's new to me just don't know anything about it.
As I see that friendly bumps & friendly comments do just about the same thing & some people are lucky to get them but most do not.

Good question, actually...I may be wrong, but I think it's not regulated like bumping your own topic or creating a new one yourself. It's just a nice way to help out a trader you like, respect, have had a good trade with, etc. It's nice to get them and nice to give them to deserving traders. D

I asked an admin directly about this and they said as long as it doesnt become an epidemic and EVERYONE is going around... friendly bump, friendly bump, etc all over the place... it will remain OK... Just make sure you still follow that 24 hour limit on bumping... even if its not your thread )

Thanks a lot chrome89k. Best to clarify things always I think.
Another issue is more than one post which I am not sure about either.

No you can only have one thread at a time. And you must not bump your own thread for three days to create a new one, I believe this is how it goes. But if I am wrong, please advise us.

What sandra said is correct. But also, I want to add that in making your new thread (after 3 days of not bumping your old one), you need to let the other thread die. If you wait for 3 days to create a new thread so that you get double the exposure, there is no doubt that you will get in serious trouble from the mods. Just to elaborate a little more on that )

Wait so let me get this straight... now that people are bumping for others.... the owner of the thread cannot bump his own thread for 3 days, while others can bump every 24 hours

No, they said you can't create a new thread until 3 days after your last bump of your previous thread..

I'll let other mods chime in on this, but I don't think people should be bumping each others' threads. Otherwise you could bump mine, I could bump yours, and each bump our own -- and it's getting around the 1 bump per 24 hours rule.

The system tracks who is currently trading with who, right? If it does, would there be any way to implement it so that you can only "bump" a trade thread if it is yours or if you are actively in a trade with them? That way it would cut down on people bumping the threads of their friends or the people who have helped them (although, it is a really nice gesture ?).
Just a thought ... because the "friendly bumps" are becoming a very noticeable rash shrug

i doubt there would be anyway to limit who posts in which threads... what if someone had a question about a topic that they didnt directly have involvement in>?

But are genuine questions seen as bumps? I know that they bump the thread, but since it genuinely pertains to the trade, it is not seen as the "friendly bump" we are referring to.
I'm talking about the people who go down their entire previous trader list going "friendly bump".

It was I that you asked, chrome89k. You asked if it was against the rules to "friendly bump" other's threads. I said it was okay [i31362cf6da]as long as it didn't get out of hand,[/i31362cf6da] and if it did then we would crack down on it.
Like CG said, it could lead to abuse, and if we catch folks conspiring to bump each others threads to get around the 24 hour bump rule, then we'll put a stop to it.

Thank you moviemadnessman because that's one thing some of us do not know.
I've read about one new thread after three days but then I really did not know [i20f42a9eba][u20f42a9eba]that the old thread has to die[/u20f42a9eba][/i20f42a9eba]. And I've seen once in a while two similar threads by same trader & I have the feeling they don't know one is supposed to die and only one can be active.
Thank you for all the valuable information. I am in the process of learning mostly at this stage so the reason for asking. When it comes to having to do or not to do, without knowing I can be a chicken.
