Ok, since paypal locked my account earlier in the year, I've been using a friend's account, and since she's all shiftless and crazy (I keed!) and doesn't have a credit card, I've been attaching gift cards to her account to raise the withdrawal limit. Now Paypal says she cannot use a visa to lift the limit, it must be a mastercard, amex or discover. Also, I cannot withdraw anything into her checking account because she is overdrawn by like 150 bux, and I don't want to pay that. Cannot find a gift mastercard for her, so yeah... and I don't want her adding her social because I think paypal is ridiculous and I don't want them having all her info. So...

If I spend the money on ebay or online, I'll waste it because I'm silly. Is there any card I can attach to her account that will let me put money from paypal onto that card, kinda like the paypal debit lets you?

sucks.. oh yeah.. it sucks.

Do you not have a Greendot merchant around you? They sell prepaid, reloadable Mastercards.

I got this one for my 16-year old for when she goes out of town on school trips (she's marching in the Sugar Bowl half-time show next week, by the way). Wal-Marts, Food Lions, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Kangaroo convenience stores, Radio Shack, and several other places sell the reload packs.

They mail you the card in about in a week. It's a $9.95 activation fee, but if you Google you can find a promo code to waive that fee.

True, but federal law requires all financial institutions to collect SSN's from customers. I imagine that any reloadable card is going to require it. Only the anonymous one-time gift cards would not, I think. But surely if they make VISA gift cards, they make MC too? Seems like I've seen them, but I'm not sure.

I'd heard that paypal was not accepting greendot to lift withdrawal limits, so I assumed that greendot was off limits for everything... so.. I can basically put the 700 or so on the green dot card and hit the atm? or merely shop... for whores and cocaine...

Yeah, I don't know PayPal's policy on GreenDot -- in fact I thought they didn't allow pre-paids at all, but then again I'm not sure how they'd know since it is a MC. Unless they just blacklist the issuing bank or something (I assume they can tell the issuing bank from the number, or from their verification/authorization process).

But yeah, the GreenDot will work at an ATM (with fees like most other ATM's $2.50 + whatever the ATM's owner charges). However you should be able to buy something in a store and get cash back for free, like with a regular check card. At least I hope so, because that's what I told my daughter to do if she needed cash, to save the ATM fees.

Have a friend create an eBay auction for something, set the BIN price for however much you want to get out, buy it, send them the money and have them take the cashout, change it to a money order and send it/give it to you.

You said if you were to use eBay and spend the money you'd just waste it, so I'm assuming you can still send the cash to other Paypal accounts.
