So, I have started the process, but immediately stopped when I reached the credit card info part.

I have heard you can just cancel the trial before they start charging, but I am still afraid to release my credit card number. Also, on the Blockbuster website, you can get a free trial without entering a credit card number, so could someone tell me if they have encountered any problems with their credit cards, or if this thing is totally legit?

First of all, discussion of cancellation is forbidden. So let's not even go there.

Second, you won't get far in this scene if you're scared of entering CC info online. Non-CC offers for legit sites with decent gifts are few and far between.

Your best bet is to do your research and find those few companies to avoid, that tend to overcharge and/or rebill when they shouldn't. Most of the sponsors are reputable and treat your CC with care. Blockbuster in particular is one of the best offers available. They were my very first freebie offer from almost 2 years ago, and I'm still a member.

If you want to do some research, RateTheOffers.com is a great place to start out....

And to add to what dmorris said, don't be scared to enter your credit card information and if you are, get a prepaid visa or a paypal account, that way you can have a certain amount dedicated to freebies and if anything happens you won't have your life savings infringed....

Seriously, to me, the safest thing to do is get a prepaid. That way, if a company was a fradulent company (LeanLife PM or Coritban), you have some back-up there and won't get overly charged. But, trust me, entering your cc-info opens you up to the world of freebies, which rocks.

I just noticed the OP lists his age as 14, and assuming it's true, he won't have a CC anyway unless his parents let him use theirs -- which I would lihighlyli recommend against unless the parents are well versed in, and understanding of, how the freebie scene works. The best he could hope for is a prepaid or a debit card.

i would recommend, if you are old enough, to actually have a credit card that you can exclusively use for offers. this allows you to track your charges easily. using the same credit card for every day stuff and offers would be tough for my wife and I.
also, please feel free to PM me with questions. being organized is key, i have a template if u need it

Thanks for the info and all your help.

By the way, thats my little brother's age, not mine. I know the consequences of losing a credit card, so thats why I was cautious.

Yeah, Credit Card Theft is really a big issue in today's society. But, rest assured, most of these sites don't try to scam you and stuff.

Yea, they wouldn't want to risk their entire business venture for a measly few hundred bucks, there's much, much more money involved in being legit than being a credit card frauder....Frauder's are usually people who don't have jobs and definitely don't own entire business, there's just too much at risk...

not to mention that you should have a credit card that protects you. i had two airline tix purchased on my citibank mc last year...citibank refunded me the money before I had to submit the form with my statement that they were fraudelent. so easy

I started the freebie scene when I was 14 and got through by using epassporte. When my parents got charged for epasspote, I would just pay them back with cash, and they wouldn't care what it was for. After the free xbox 360, they told me to stop. cry

Man, if my kid got a free xbox 360, I wouldn't tell him to stop, I'd make him get me one P , Why stop something so good?

We would really prefer that you create your own account here and post under that. In fact it will be required if you're thinking about trading here.

Thanks! ;)
