Sorry, I still don't know. I'm going for a gift that will exceed my $600 quota. This is the first time I've had this happen to me, so I don't know what exactly a w-9 is.

Do I have to pay?
How do I pay?
When do I mail it in?
What if I don't pay taxes?

If you make over a certain amount yes
When you file your taxes
To the company that is issuing the gift
Then you probably dont have to pay, though you need to file (i think so)

Quick question relating. When mailing my W-9 to I-deal, Should I include all 4 pages, the last 3 seem to just explain what the form is, and no place to write. The first page is the only one with room for me to write in.

I send them all just to be on the safe side.

How do you get away with not paying taxes?

The best way to get away with not paying taxes is not to file them ever. If you filed them once they have all your information >.> Or so I learned in Accounting.

If you don't file taxes even the first time...the following may occur

1. Cows might die more rapidly.
2. You are in danger from extraterrestrials.
3. The IRS is going to steal your money, house, car, wife, pets, sisters, brothers, and any other belongings.
4. You get arrested, and put on trial for things you never did.
5. You get arrested again, for not filing your taxes, and you are fined an absurd number of United States currency.
6. After you can't afford to pay your fines, you get arrested, and put into prison for the rest of your life.

And you know why the IRS and the Government can do that? Because they can!

Now, as you can see, I was extremely bored...but all of the above...could one day...or could have happened once before. ;)

Yeah, because the government doesn't have any idea you exist before then lol For most people, it's advantageous to start filing as right away, because they're entitled to a refund check.

Psst, employers have to file information regarding their employees also. If you don't file, and you owe, they will come after you. If they owe you money, they aren't going to bother.

Can someone tell me what happens if I'm in a situation in which I don't have to pay taxes?

You still have to file the W-9 for the sake of the freebie company you are dealing with....You won't have to pay anything but you will have to fill out that form...
