(1) Is there any way to isolate your search to specific threads only?

I just noticed a lot of posts, particularly in the DIY section, tend to have dozens of pages and HUNDREDS of posts.

If a 'Search this thread only' function existed. It would be easier to find answers specific to a certain category (i.e. Finding say shipping info for Nuitech..one can just search the Nuitech thread).

Perhaps this is possible, if so, how would I do it?

I do understand I can just show all threads and then use my browser's search function, but some of these threads are like 1000+ posts...heh.

You can use keywords AND and OR to search for threads/posts with those words. If you want to look for certian posts, you can click on the Display Results Posts towards the bottom of the search page.

Hope that helps. shrug

I'm not a big fan of the effectiveness of the search feature. I never seem to find the thread I'm looking for. For example, I wanted to find my thread I made for the True.com offer, which I knew I had titled 'true.com'. When I searched it plain (nothing else picked) the results weren't even close. When I narrowed it to the Trainn forum it was like the third result. Meh maybe I'm being picky and the search isn't perfect.

I PM'd Admin a long tme ago about adding the search.php page mod which lets you search titles, but he said he wasn't adding anymore mods at the time. (

I still thinks that's a must have. A lot of boards have it. I hope he reconsiders.

Not seeing anything that matches what you're talking about...

If you want to search individual posts rather than threads, click the radio button on the bottom left for 'posts' rather than 'threads' and search away.

re jjj...
searching for "True.com" (with quotation marks), author johnjimjones, in the trainn forum, shows me the thread you are talking about as the only result. if you search for true.com without quotation marks, it's going to split it along the '.' and search for "true" and "com", as well as "true" or "com", which obviously matches a shitton of posts.

I say IPB pwnz, lol .
I used to use phpBB but the updating was getting annoying after a while.

I like IPB because it has the little search box right at the bottom of every thread.

sorry, misread your first post. 'search titles only' is now an available search option.
