My check card for my bank account was stolen online somehow. Someone got my card number online from one of the offers I signed up with (which I dont know), then they tried to make 2 purchaces at a sit called CBS Sports Store. Purchase 1 was in the amount of $1, 190.72 and the 2nd was $2,466......the first one was put through to pay and the 2nd one was denied because I had no more funds in my account. My bank gave me CBS Sports Store's 800# that was listed on the transaction, I called them and they put me through to a 3rd party payment verification company, I was told the $1, 190.72 was not going to go through either because the person who tried to place the order with my card did not have enough information to give such as my address. I ended up having to cancel my card, wait 10 days for a new one, and wait for the pending transaction of $1,190.72 to fall off my account so I can get rid of my negative account balance....until then I am stuck without being able to access my account because of the negative balance. I don't think this TRADING stuff is worth it for me after all this.
BE CAREFUL!!!

What offers have you done?

EDIT It's not necesarily an offer you've done, they could've gotten it in a number of ways unrelated. If it was an offer, I think we'd hear about these kinds of things much more often.

Happened to me about two years ago. I caught it when some company called me and started asking ?s of me. I had no idea what was going on. I cancelled my card right away. It took the person to stole my card 45minutes to buy $500 worth of internet calling cards all from different companies.

I had to call and explain what had happened to every company to get reimbursed for it.

Weird thing was when I was talking to the companies they said that they had all my info. Name, address, phone number, email, birthdate, everything.

Even weirder the one company didn't believe that it wasnt' me that did it and wanted to check to see the call log from the account. I was using my cell phone to call him and he's like "Well right now there is a call going through our system from 570-xxx-xxxx from Washington DC to Ethopia." I was freaked out cuz I was using my cell phone to call the company. He then decided that from my address and the fact that it was international that it was indeed fraudulent charges.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I know you were a good ref for me. I hope you get this all worked out quickly.

Maybe considering the prepaid visa cards to continue working on sites.

No, I got a call from I forget the name of the company, but it was an internet phone card company or something of that sort. And he started asking me questions like is this. . . and went all through my name address phone number etc. Then he was asking about if I had placed an order with the company. And if my credit card ended in XXXX and if I used aol. And I was just totally confused. I had never heard of the company, I dont' have AOL. My name address phone and credit card number were correct.

And then he told me that he thought there may be some sort of fraud because someone with an AOL IP address placed an order and whatnot. And he asked if I still had my card and I'm like yeah I'm holding it in my hand. He recommened that I cancel my card, which I immediatly did.

I always use my citi card when doing offers....Citi provides a program where you can generate a virtual # for online use, and close it as soon as you have made the charges you need. That way, if someone does get ahold of my number somehow, it won't be open long for them to do anything with it.

thats why i like my bank of america check card because it protects me for a lot of things and when someone uses my check card ( basically a credit card) they have to enter visa password numbers that only i have and if by chance they get that and charge something on my card i tell bank of america , they close the account down, give me a temp card from the bank i can pick up and, send me a new perm card in the mail while giving me my funds bank instantly that someone else charged..

you cant get much better than that i'd say.

I think its time for me to get a prepaid card as well. I'm getting sick of all these companies charging me for their services after i've already canceled. Then having to call them up and explain that and wait a week until I am reimbursed.

I think it's with any citi card. If you go to their website, and login to your account there is a link for it towards the top right of the page. I believe the link is a big red graphic of some sort, but I'm not sure about that.

stueybaby17

17-02-2007 12:53:44

Yeah, I think I'll be getting one again too. Just got a call from my credit card company. They asked me about like $3000 worth of charges! I'm like umm. I had about $20 worth of those. I had to go through ever transaction one by one and let them know if I made that transaction or not. It was such a pain in the ass, but at least they didn't allow the charges to go through this time and then make me call everybody to get a refund.

I'm gonna find out all the offers I've done and post them here when I get a chance. I'm a little busy right now, but I'll let everybody know.

Please do ASAP. The number of incidents like this seems to be spiking lately, and it's likely that one of the popular offers is involved.

Yeah, this is definately a problem. One new member PM'ed me today about a trade but told me her identity got stolen too. We should try to form a list to figure out what offers people did in common. Just because some people didn't have a problem with a certain offer, we shouldn't count that offer out either.

The first set of offers listed has three Trilegiant offers (SE, PTF, HR) and the other is a Paycom offer I believe.

I've done offers from both of those companies in the past and never had any kind of problem like this and I regard(ed) them to be some of the more legit companies.

Atleast 2 users at ReferralSwapper, and 2 users at A4F (total of 4 diffrent users, 1 the only offer they did was gotaplay) posted their credit cards have been charged at weird plasers, after doing gotaplay

[quotea4173230aa="wfhsteve"]I did gottaplay about 4 weeks ago then 1 week ago today found a mysterious $300 charge on my bank account from bananarepublic. The next day I called bananarepublic and found out that my debit card number was used to make this purchase! It is very possible that those of you this is happening with might have keyloggers on your computers. Update your antivirus and firewalls. Also run a virus scan right away!

I know many sites suggest you turn off your antivirus and or firewall to do offers. If you ARE doing this you should NOT!

Also use roboform or something like that so you are not keying in your information all the time!

Or put your info into word and save it. Then when you do offers copy and paste the info into the offers!

Hope this helps.

Blessings
