http://gaming.yourgiftsfree.com - BIGGEST SCAM YET! UNFAIR!!
fabolousxwun
01-09-2006 16:48:23
As talking to the website owner of http//gaming.yourgiftsfree.com on AIM, he decided that he would do nothing but require photo ID's from all of my friends. He refused to give me my gift after I completed my offer and told my friends to complete an offer too. Out of all the offers, they all chose BlockBuster which is the only one teenagers might be interested in. He immiately assumed I created duplicate accounts. My friends were skeptical about this online gift thing before, so as of right now I lost my respect in their eyes. I'm very upset and will report this to the BBB soon if nothing is done by the website owner in this case.

Just give him the IDs? -/ He probably sees some other reason besides you doing the same offer. Also, isn't BlockBuster 18 years+? He probably has some other evidence. I gave him the link to this via AIM. He'll probably explain soon.

How many refs did you have?
AstonisheD
01-09-2006 17:00:36
if that was all that happened, seriously.. you cant put people on hold because all his/her refs did the same offer, you cant base holds on that, theres not enough proof.
but if something else thats not mentioned in the post, then idk.
of course you could just show him the ID's

Hi,
First off, all your referrals and you did the same offer. Thats considered a walkthrough, I dont enforce it that much because it could happen to anyone. You guys lived within 5 minutes of eachother, not a violation at all because you refer FRIENDS. My affiliate contacted me, he gave me some users that blockbuster are very suspicious with. Also known as possible fraud. So all I requested was his and his refs ID. He can blur out any information I don't already have. So we have all of his refs and him doing the same offer, (walkthrough), they all live within 5 minutes of eachother and did the SAME offer,(raises suspicion), AND blockbuster labeled them for possible fraud.
junkie06
01-09-2006 20:56:20
not taking sides, but you have no way of knowing someone gave a walkthough simply by basicing it on the fact all his referrals did the same offer...someone can also give some one a walkthough for different offers but you stil have no way of knowing.

I say if your publisher takes away your commision then leave the guy on hold. Otherwise I don't see what it'll do. but overall its your call as the site admin.

true, but according to him Blockbuster labeled them as possible fraud.
junkie06
01-09-2006 21:02:26
possible fraud....however affiliates that i have delt with will take away commission if there is fraud, they will never contact you and say its possible fraud with out taking away commission...
Since commission wasnt takin away and there is no proof that he walked his friends through is not fair to put him on hold.

01-09-2006 21:43:25
so you put him on hold because of possible fraud....what constitue possible fraud, (i dont see that mentioned in your tos, that a user can be placed on hold because of "possible fraud")...the fact that all referrals did the same offers????? Which you believe he walked them through, with no proof.
Im not taking his side,i dont know the guy either, it just doesnt seem fair.

If Blockbuster contacted him about possible fraud, it could be a number of things... Perhaps they all used the same credit card, credit cards listed under the same name, listed the same mailing address, etc. I'm sure YGF has a legitimate reason, and it does say in TOS that he can place an account on hold for any reason he wants.
If the user is legitimate, it isn't an impossible request. Just get the IDs and send it in.

None of that statement had any substance to it. Those are not reasons to require IDs, but simply reasons for you to suspend sending a gift (like you did to me several times). Don't use YourGiftsFree, anybody.
Edit I stand by my above paragraph, but after seeing the message from the Blockbuster people, I must man-up and say that YourGiftsFree was right in this situation. I still am not going to use them again. Trainn > Everybody.

Also known as possible fraud. So all I requested was his and his refs ID. He can blur out any information I don't already have. So we have all of his refs and him doing the same offer, (walkthrough), they all live within 5 minutes of eachother and did the SAME offer,(raises suspicion), AND blockbuster labeled them for possible fraud.[/quote36e51a7577]
None of that statement had any substance to it.
Trainn > Everybody.[/quote36e51a7577]
I beleive he was giving him a chance at completing the site (proving that the people are real people). If he couldn't prove it his gift would be suspended.

I was actually giving them a chance to get their gifts. Now I wont since I got the message from blockbuster.

lol, just finished reading this (sorry to revive a somewhat brutal thread)
i've signed up for YGF, not done yet but havn't had any trouble...
but anways, signed up for blockbuster from Prizebook (paid $30!) and i was thinking of scamming them by trying to cancel early or something, like what that one guy did (the sticky "MY SIDEKICK AKA WHY I GOT BANNED <-- lol).... but i have to say, it would take more work to scam, then to enjoy and use the service
I'll admit that when i first learned about free sites i thought of every way possible to scam them, and canceld probably about 3 offers, until i realized how fucked up that is of me. Needless to say, i stopped doing that particular site, deleted my account, and am now 100% legit, but people like fabulous and myself in early august are screwing everyone over.
Besides, BBO is a sweet deal.... you get movies/games, as long as you want, as many as you want, 10 dollars/mo (intro) and then 17 after that (?).
I do have a question here though, how can they tell that he was using a proxy? I'm not an expert with how the internet works and stuff, but can they find out THAT easily?

It's easier to tell than you think.

is it just like a black-list kind of thing, how they have a list of all proxies or potontial proxies and if the IP matches then your "suspicous" then they confirm it?
thats the only way i can really think of doing it....
or is it some kind of secret that common folk like me aren't supposed to know wink ? 8) lol

I dont want to expose how, but yes we can see VERY easily.

Suffice to say that with HTTP traffic, there is a lot more information transmitted about your connection than just your IP address. Even with [i10f2ac827f]only[/i10f2ac827f] an IP address, it's pretty easy to determine if that IP is a proxy or not.

?
why all the mystery, it's not like theres a way around making a proxy work...

We are not posting how to know if its a proxy for obvious reasions.

I'm not asking, because if i really wanted to know i could find out by searching google really specifically, but i'm just saying that it seems very mysterious the way you are saying it.
But again, i'm not asking for obvious reasons as well )

It's no big mystery, and yes you can easily Google for the information. But we're not going to spell it out here for any would-be scammers who just need a push in the right direction. ;)
