I bought $5000 worth of certs off him. I had $1200 left. Today I tried to buy a book and it says my last 12 cards are invalid...

This may be something out of his control, but until he explains, I would wait.

The giftcert I gave him now shows as "Fully Redeemed" (so he already spent it) and I still haven't received anything.. lmfao, sorry guys I just think this is too funny.

Ummm where did you guys think he was getting $50,000.00 worth of half.com GC?

Legally?

If he was really getting these things so cheap why didn't he just buy 100 xbxox 360s and resell them himself. Would have made cash (money orders) instead of getting more GC that can only be spent on other items.

That never made cense to me. If he would have been asking for cash yea I could see it, but to get GC that he had to redeem for trinkets????? Why not just buy the trinkets in the first place?

Well good luck. Thats a lot of cash.

bballp6699

25-01-2006 19:05:35

Ok, let's NOT jump to conclusions, however, let's all put our facts together...

1) My certs worked for a good month.
2) DLF doesn't have paypal, but why? Maybe he doesn't want his address to be known?
3) He likes amazon gift cards, through email. Not as easily tracked?
4) He hasn't been on in a day, right before all this happened.
5) I've searched google for half.com generators, nothing came up or anything related.
6) He said he got them for 10%, but why. Was he expected to sell to advertise and not for his own benefit? Possible reason why killed...
7) Why weren't any of us contacted through half.com
8) Why all of a sudden today?

Exactly, there are enough ways to track him (especially those codes - I'm sure half.com would love to know what's going on if they don't already).

And Amazon says
Amazon.com will have the right to close customer accounts and request alternative forms of payment if a fraudulently obtained gift certificate is either redeemed through the Amazon.com Web site or is redeemed and used to make purchases on the Amazon.com Web site.

Maybe he was just not going to allow this guy that scammed him to get the best of him and decided to tell his cousin about it, who then promptly killed all certs by mistake...

I simply quoted what he had told me. I have discussed this outside of the forum on several occasions. Since thread bashing isnt allowed, I didnt post any anti remarks.

Plus if anyone here truly thought they were getting something for nothing then shame on you. It is assumed by law that if you pruchase something for well below market value it is assumed stolen.

He's from or posting from Florida (Miami).

The reason I sent damacs, Crynos' and hehehhehe's GC's to him without having the full amount, was because initially it was thought that were was a bonus. Since he posted that there would be none, I asked him if since there was no longer a bonus if I just sent him the others' GC's could he send me the Half GC's without waiting for the full payment.

Now that I look back on the PM's he doesn't explicitly state that this would be fine, only implies it. I sent them, and whenever I asked for GC's he igonred it.

Wow, this is really weird. DLF has been selling them all over the place on A4F, as many of you already know. I apologize if I'm posting information that is already known on FiPG but on A4F, he made a topic about a user named ViggyG charging back all his GCs. DLF then called Half and somehow got the situation resolved. Maybe since he called Half to get the situation with Viggy straightened out, they also emptied out all the active GC's that DLF had? It seems like DLF either hasn't realized all this happening, or he doesn't want to come back to A4F and FiPG and deal with all his unhappy "customers".

Just to point out he might not be scamming, he might have just got caught stealing them.

He has repeatedly said his cousin works for ebay.

So what if

His cousin was scamming a hundred a month or so. Since Finch used to only pay with them sporaticly.

Then his cousin steals a few $k so they can have some xmas money. If I remember right thats when he started selling bulk.

Now last night Ebay catches on, fires his cousin and revokes all the GC he had been making.

So now Finch is screwed. He spent all the monies yall sent him. He can't afford to pay anyone back. So he is hiding and hoping for the best.

That at least would explain why he didn't just use them himself. Since ebay would see Finch (cousin) selling $20k worth of GC and Finch using them.

Probably a good reason he didn't take paypal. You can't track GC to him. Obviously the GC's were stolen and everybody knew it. Why else would he sell them instead of using them himself? eBay isn't dumb, they don't give away GC's for less then 50%, lol.

JKirk

25-01-2006 20:45:14

For some reason, I have a feeling this has to do with the fast one ViggyG pulled on him the other day. I think Half acted as a credit card company does and deactivated all the GC's as soon as they received word that VinnyG stole the GC's from DLF. I PM'd DLF on A4F along with a message tracker, so we will see if he will ignore it or explain the situation. Either way, I'll relay the information I receive over here.

You know what? He was always pressuring me to put up a brag bag, and I was thinking "why? if you claim you're out of gift cards, why do you want more people to see the deal, and want to buy from you?" but I stupidly figured he was just lying about how many he had left, and he wanted to keep selling. i am not scamming anyone and im not related nor from san jose. im from sacramento, california, which is like 2-3 hrs away from san jose. mines are working cos i got them legit. however, i did buy some from dudelovesfinch, and they were working last time i checkd so i sold them. i would use the half.com gcs, but i already bought what i wanted already, 2 xbox 360s, ps2 games, ps2, memory cards, cds. after those, i stopped buying and realized that i dont even play my xbox 360s anymore and sold them. my ps2 is sitting right there in the dust. idrinklisterine filed a dispute on me because dudelovesfinch used my paypal emiail to collect money. in return, dudelovesfinch wanted me to buy him amazon.com gcs, which i did. i know the fact that this seems weird that you guys think im him, but im not. 25-01-2006 21:09:28

I'm looking at the guy's post count, I was looking at his trade record, and I just thought if anyone was going to stay around, it'd be Finch. I thought about the likelihood of Ebay selling half.com gift cers for pennies, and I thought it was lame unless you buy an enormous amount, i figured he must have bought like 100K for 10 grand, and that's why he was hustling so hard to make the money back.

Why would I give the money back to you? You admitted to laundering money for DLF, and when I told you to simply not send the GCs to him, you told me

[quotea91f2683ad]i already did and he ran off with the amazon giftcertifcates. but i aint complaining, cos it came out of the money that you guys sent to me when you guys bought from him using my paypal. [/quotea91f2683ad]

This sounds like you still have some of our money. DLF scammed me out of $2,000 (in cash, not GCs), and if you helped him, I'm not taking the charge off dispute. Also, what happened to "i aint complaining"?

hehehhehe

25-01-2006 22:02:20

If he's smart, he'll give us our money back (not the 2x amount in gift certs) so he won't have the law after him. For the amount he's taken, he could get in a lot of trouble. We know where his "aunt" is, and we can get her number from that, even if we have to pay a bit for it.

Just you you all know I called Amazon.com and their fraud staff are going to look into his acount. When I was talking to the guy he traced my order and when he saw how much money dudelovesfinch had in his account he gasped. Finch has $11,000 of our money in his amazon account. Story time. I probably found out about the broken gift cards before this post was up.

http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?t=31351

I tried to warn people about this, just to be on the safe side... but it was locked and I didn't want to get a temp ban for posting it elsewhere.

So last night, he got on AIM, sent me $400 to replace the $400 that I found was broken. I used $100, and was planning to use the other $300 today. Today I find out that they are all inactive again. In addition to this, the ones I sold are inactive and customers are getting pissed off at me.

My thought on this is that he DID run with our money. Everything points to that. I saw him on AIM today, and right when I messeged him, he logged off.

First off, no one here is scammed out of a green. They were scammed out of REAL MONEY. Some people lost HUNDREDS to THOUSANDS to him. REAL CASH. Im sorry to everyone that lost money here, I bought a whole bunch of certs from dude early last week, and spent them all right away...so Im not really out anything on reselling.

The reason I ended up buying from him was because I didnt think he could have just "generated" gift certificate codes with money on them, because if you know how the gift certificate system works, it stores how much money they have for that certain code on their database, so like if you spend a certain amount it remembers how much is left on the gift certificate code. For this reason I thought the gift certificate codes obviously wouldnt have money on them unless someone bought them from half.com and they were activated with that amount of money.

Now, that being said, I guess it doesnt rule out that he hacked the site and stole them from people that actually bought them, or that his family member or himself actually did work there and kept generating them for him....

Whatever it was, im interested to see how this plays out, and if you all get your money back from him; I hope you do

hyperion479

25-01-2006 22:54:03

Well, DLF did what nothing else had...made me register here at FIPG.

I traded DLF $400 Amazon for $800 Half.com through A4F and received it Jan 23. Luckily I managed to spend a good deal that same night, but still took a decent hit on it when they died.

I know Emoney, a mod at A4F, lost a nice sum as well. But not nearly as bad as some of the numbers I've heard earlier in this post. If ya'll decide to do something, definitely let me know. Until then I'll hover around waiting for some news.

EDIT Also, I'm leaning towards this not being an action on Half.com as none of us have been contacted about the GCs. Plus my recent orders seem to have been unaffected, but I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed about it until they show up at my doorstep.

we dont know that they were counterfeighted yet, and if they were half.com should blame their bad programming, or the guy that hacked them

I dont think its fair to expect them to give you the money left on the cards if they found out the cards were counterfeighted, but if you already spent the money and recieved the items, then I dont think they can ask you for your items back as that would result in the sellers losing money and it would be a giant mess. Also, everyone here that bought from him thought that he was just reselling gift certificates that he already bought in bulk, so he should be liable is he really was the one behind all this

Yeah but its spent money now. So I guess no one wants to ask half.com about the invalid GCs for fear of getting some cash taken away, huh?

He's got enough Amazon credits to reimburse us with merchandise, if not cash. I talked to Amazon too, and the helpful guy there told me what we should do if this isn't resolved amicably.

[quote1f33283481="hehehhehe"]Has anyone asked half.com why the GCs no longer worked?

I don't think half.com has any legal grounds to ask for their money back. You didn't know they were fake.[/quote1f33283481]

Actually they can. Any tme you perchase something far below its "value" it is considered in the eyes of the law "obvious stolen property".

If some guy sold you a new porshe for 1/2 price, you dont think the police would cease it from you and return it too the owner. They would and will.

Personally I don't think ebay will go after the spenders "YOU". Since that would mean litigation, lawyer fees, etc. They will simply not pay the sellers when they exchange the GC you spent.

Since ebay pays these people the amount that was discounted. They just wont pay it, much easier that way and is in the TOS.

So all you have to worry about is the people you bought stuff from. Odds are they wont go after you unless you spent 2k with them. You might lose your ebay account, but think thats the worst that will happen.

Now to getting your money back. Its simple, albeit legally unethical. Simply file A credit card chargeback. Though since it is through amazon not many people will be able to get the money back.

However with that said when amazon gets 10-20k worth of chargebacks to one member it will for damn sure lock his account and make them look into it.

Although I realize that this is your personal opinion, I don't think that ebay would have any legal right to do that. If the items were purchased with stolen CCs then yes, they would do that, but because they are actual Half.com branded gift cards they have to honor them, because somewhere down the line someone fucked up in their company to make those available.

If you haven't done so already I would suggest that you call Amazon and try and get the GCs canceled. There is a pretty good chance that they will cancel it if he hasn't spent it yet.

If it turn out it was some big mis-understanding people can always send the GCs again.

Half.com's Gift Certificate Terms and Conditions[=http//pages.half.ebay.com/help/giftcertificates_terms.html]Half.com's Gift Certificate Terms and Conditions doesn't really say anything about buying or selling GCs. If they turn out to be stolen or something, will they be able to come after us? All of us will obviously just point to DLF (we'll get his info eventually, if this all turns out bad) and Half should just go after him.

I bought $6100 worth of GCs from him. Fortunately I spent all but $200 (which are of course invalid now x). If Half comes after me for $5900 I dunno wtf I'm gonna do.

Read the below link, downwards. Not only is there a screenshot with "his friends" name (luis Gaud), but there is a transaction ID.

I'm going to speak to bond4284 to see if he can have a look for the e-mail that was sent from.

The IP that jerrito1 registered from and posted from is in West Palm Beach, FLorida. The IP that DLF posted from in that same thread is from a different ISP and a different "part of town", but both in Florida.

Also, DLF has about 60 IP's that he has used on this forum and there's no way I'm giving any of them out to anyone, regardless of the circumstances.

I have a question that might sound dumb but....

Why has no one called ebay and asked why the GC are bogus now? They have no idea what you paid for them.

Simply state you traded amazon GC for half.com GC, and you want to make sure they arent stolen, etc, etc. Or why they no longer work and "oh my please dont tell me i traded my amazon gc for stolen products, oh dear me". etc, etc....

Plus this might give you a hell of a lot more info. If they were simply generated or stolen, or he used them up, etc

I asked that but people were mum, probably because they didn't want to have half.com ask for their money back. Isn't there anyone who couldn't use any of their GCs and have nothing to lose?

Maybe zbalz can call them and ask, his was only $50.

If someone really has the ability to do something with an IP, they should tell TSJ how they can do it (law enforcement database, etc...).

We already have several ways to get to this guy, I just hope he comes back and gives us our money back by buying shit and sending from Amazon if he has to (he certainly has the means). Otherwise, he really is going to be in trouble with the law. If he thinks a bunch of us calling him late at night is the worst that can happen, he is dead wrong.

I think that Amazon will at least be willing to give Amazon credit for any GC that has not been spent. This situation could hurt them in the end with bad publicity and people not buying GCs from them, if it gets out on a large scale. If they end up giving you Amazon credit, they lose nothing. They still have the money, just a different person will be spending it.

Just my opinion.

From that statement another question comes up. What if you bought something? I'm not sure how half.com works, but from the little reading that I have done it seems that sellers are payed on the 15th and the 30th of every month. Once you use your GCs I wonder if they are considered valid and erased and half.com just earmarks it as money before they pay the seller or if they check the GCs before they send money out.

jack001

26-01-2006 11:49:40

I was just thinking, why would dude tell half.com they were stolen and get them cancelled...UNLESS they would be giving him a refund for all the unused cards AND he would be keeping the money he sold them all for...thats a possibility i guess, and maybe half.com could tell us more on the matter if someone asked.

this is what I'm worried about. I'm going to have to do a chargeback with amazon because I may have to return what I bought, and then I'd be out of everything. Because if the sellers don't get paid in the end, they're gonna tapdance all over my perfect feedback.

kevxross

26-01-2006 11:52:21

Yeah, we might actually be able to get more than a canned response out of Half.com eventually, because it's not like this is just some little bullshit forum issue, this is well over $25,000 of Half.com money. This is an issue that actually matters as much to them as it does to us.

jack001

26-01-2006 11:54:46

luca, before you do a chargeback with amazon, who probably wouldnt be too happy about that if the moneys spent, you should maybe contact half.com and see what they plan to do about it. Its possible that they consider the GCs already used to be just that, and they only cancelled the ones that havent been used/ still had money on them.

Brutus

26-01-2006 11:57:10

I don't think a chargeback against Amazon is going to work. Amazon didn't do anything wrong. They sent a GC to the person that you specified. I do think they will try and help in some way, since this could be bad PR for them. Not helping people that got scammed when they could have, etc.

Yeah, I took the 450$ of Amazon option from 3604free. So they had my email address and everything, and I just forwarded it to him. Not sure if that makes the situation better or worse (although I doubt I'll see any of it).

So I guess if I look at in in the right light, I'm not losing 350 of amazon but rather 100$ in referral for cash trades and the ability to do a few offers that I did in trades...Wait, that even sounds worse. (

Greed is a really disgusting thing. Maybe my least favorite part of human nature. This seems just like 12DP to me. Clearly, the business model makes no logical sense, but people will try to find reasons why its legit. It's the same here. Why would half.com eat that much money? I could understand smaller-value ones given away at, for example, trade shows, in order to generate interest. But thousands upon thousands of dollars simply given away? Jesus christ, guys, think of the golden fucking rule. If this "deal" didn't scream 'too good to be true', I don't know what does. I'd feel sorry for you all but it seems to me like you're victims of your own greed. Would you respond to a classified ad selling an expensive car for half its bluebook? I wouldn't; it's probably stolen, salvaged title, or a money laundering scam. How is this different?

From what I've read I've come to the conclusion that he did this out of revenge from his Stormpay scammer. Seems like all of the trouble started from there. He must have used all of the giftcards or had them cancelled (as previously mentioned).

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to do with how he was acquiring the cards, legal or not, because I don't think he would dissappear if that was the case. If it does have to do with his fraudulent acquiring of the cards, it would also have to be a pretty big coincidence to happen immediately in the hours following his being scammed.

Sorry if I'm being captain obvious here, just giving some input.

Just so we're clear - you're one of my favorite posters on FiPG, hand down.

In the 'freebie world', we have established ways that freebie sites make money/break even, so that even though the gifts are "deeply discounted" by the time they get to you, SOMEBODY paid full (or near full) price for them initially. Even when we're talking about DIYs - they have an established business model and they make tons of money on non-finishers.

While I appreciate that you feel comfortable comparing me to a relative, I don't think your similie extends very far. For one, I've only done one smaller site (orderit4free) and it was for a low-value gift, and even then I considered it a gamble. I was fully prepared to lose all my money/refs and I would have just sucked it up. If someone (relative or not) chided me for losing the time/money, I'd say, "gee, friend, you're right. I sure got taken this time! On the other hand, I've been fortunate enough to get some dozens of thousands of dollars worth of gifts/donations because of the freebie scene, and I knew the risks when I started."

Have I ever made a post saying that "you guys got what was coming to you" when a network/site ran with your money? I think you'll be hard pressed to find it. More likely, you'll find me and the staff here helping people track down those responsible. Why? Because it is reasonable, in my opinion, to expect a site owner to at least make some efforts to deliver on his promises.

On the other hand, logic dictates that there is NOTHING reasonable about someone GIVING AWAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, which is exactly what this "deal" amounted to. So, in short, no. Nobody who got "taken" will get any sympathy from me. If you were greedy enough to jump on a deal like this despite the dozens of blatant red flags, you do indeed deserve it.

LucaBella

26-01-2006 14:39:26

Your argument fails because someone could still be ultimately paying near the full price of the GCs. In this situation it would be Ebay/Half.com promoting (advertising like those who post offers on Freepay) the use of their sites.

Perhaps he pooled them?

For example, he SAYS he has tons of Half.com GC's, but instead only has one. As he sells them he buys more to distribute. Initially he'd have to eat a few of them, but as more and more people begin to buy them from him he eventually has more $$ than he started with and receipts of the codes that he sold. Before he bails he begins to sell the same codes to people...

Perhaps you all can elect someone trustworthy (tsj?) to send all your codes to, to verify that you all didn't receive the same codes. That might explain why some people's are working, and others aren't.(.. and, perhaps, why Half.com hasn't really provided a good explanation) shrug

^Good guess, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. It doesn't say "This certificate has already been used." It says "This certificate has been deactivated."

(Those aren't the exact words because I'm too lazy to get them, but the messages are different.)

Edit Crap. My own post made me curious, so I [b916fc477d1]did[/b916fc477d1] go look. The bum codes say

"The code that you have entered is invalid.[/color916fc477d1]"

whereas spent codes say

"The Gift Certificate that you have entered does not have any funds left.[/color916fc477d1]"

The reason I say "crap" is that I tried a couple codes that I had already spent and some gave me the invalid error. Others gave me the no funds error. I just hope the ones I've [b916fc477d1]spent[/b916fc477d1] that now say "invalid" don't come back to bite me in the ass.

This situation sucks ?

Every Amazon CSR I talk to sounds like they're slow. I explained the situation to the current CSR, and she was like "well you know you can buy amazon gift certs here at Amazon, you don't have to buy and then trade for them" she seems to think I bought gift certs for amazon.com to get gift certs for amazon.com

And she's american... no excuse for this.

Another seller refunded my (now shitty) gift certs so I'm down more than 1200 dollars...

she says there's nothing they can do, if its a scam we need to contact our local authorities, because I know the police here in High point, NC are gonna rush right down with the FBI in tow and find Finchy!

26-01-2006 15:30:26

Ok I just tested more codes to see which error messages I get. I bought certs from Finch in 2 batches. The first batch I bought ($2500) all say they have no funds left, as if they're legit, they're just spent. The whole second batch ($3600) say invalid (whether I spent them or not), as if Half.com terminated them. This doesn't reveal too much, except that timing was an issue here. Either Finch cancelled all codes back to a certain date, or Half caught onto him at this point and cancelled all the codes from that point on. I dunno.

I ordered the first batch on 1/4 and the second batch on 1/6.

[quote6c11e3cb5a="Admin"]

If you were greedy enough to jump on a deal like this despite the dozens of blatant red flags, you do indeed deserve it.[/quote6c11e3cb5a]

You laugh at us for "falling for this", yet I didn't see you closing his threads. I have seen several sites or methods like this that you have closed and called bogus. This time you did absolutley shit. That means one of two things...

1) You didn't give a shit about us getting scammed because "well find out soon". This I don't believe because that would be one shitfilled attitude and whether you deny it or not, you care about how the general pop views you here.

2) You weren't 100% sure yourself. Which is what I believe. You thought it was bullshit, but you had no idea and let us ride with it. We took a chance and went with an optimisitc view. Now all of a sudden you want to jump out and call us fools, but you weren't sure either.

Do you really expect him or any of the other mods to be responsible for moderating each and every transaction that occurs on FIPG?

I certainly don't. I assume that ANY transaction I enter into here on FIPG has some risk, if not A LOT of risk (considering the number of bunk trades I've been screwed on).

From day one, the buy/sell forum has been defined as pretty much a free-for-all. None of the existing mods wanted to spend the time or energy to mod it, so I tried to make the rules as loose as possible. So yes, when I saw him selling all of those GCs, I let it go. Zero complaints against him, probably close to a dozen people reporting that they worked and they purchased items... while I was sure then that whatever he was doing was shady, everyone involved was happy. I didn't know what his scheme was. I'd like to see any "sites or methods like this" that I closed. If you're talking about 12DP, the idea of "HYIPs" is old and literally has failure built into it. How was I to know that DLF would eat it like that? I let the sales go on. Members here have time and again proven themselves to be scam conscious and to think things through carefully before going through with them. Especially older members; who happen to comprise most of the 'scammed' group.

What I'm trying to say is, yes, I had a bad feeling about the thread, and I let it go because I had no definitive proof that what he was doing was wrong/illegal to the extent that it was. Honestly, I wasn't even following what he was doing that closely - if you'd asked me the value of all of the GCs he sold to date back before this all exploded, I probably would have said "about $4000".

As for #1, you are not in a position to say ANYONE has a 'shitfilled' attitude. You fucking invented it.

As for #2, you are correct. I wasn't 100% sure, but I was goddamn sure enough to not send [i8f423af1ed]thousands[/i8f423af1ed] of [i8f423af1ed]untraceable, un-charge-backable[/i8f423af1ed] funds to an internet stranger. Fuck, I think hard before I send that much to an eBay powerseller. And you know what? I never said anyone was a fool. I just think the intense greed fed by the so-called 'freebie lifestyle' got the best of a lot of people for whom I held respect, and that is upsetting and depressing to me.

And finally, I'd just like to point out that if I'd closed that thread and forbidden DLF from posting about that
a) people would have PM'd him and done the trades without fipg;
b) i'd have been called a nazi
i've always been a huge fan of self reliance and responsibility. every person here who got scammed is in a shit situation not because of fipg, not because of DLF, not because of any fucking reason except that they made a shitty judgement call given the information available. the fact that ugly ugly greed is what probably caused that just makes the whole thing sadder.

in no way should admin be even considered for bashing though, he has nothing to do with it, a lot of money is at stake, and we know what that does to tempers, if anything its best to calm down, and figure a way to get ur cash back. sure easy to say i didnt get scammed TRUE but i sympathize with ya'll too, i would be irate if i lost cash over some fuckn asshole, but admin let the sales forum run freely how it should be, everyone took it at their own risk.

First of all I didn't say you have a 'shitfilled' attitude. I said that if you didn't care about your members then you would, but that wasn't the case. You just had no idea, just like the rest of us.

You come into a thread where we are trying to put information together and figure out what's going on, and you start rubbing shit in about how we're all greedy. Thanks for the fucking concern.

I think you do an amazing job with the way you run this place as far as the technical part of it goes, but I also think you're a jackass sometimes just because you know people won't stand up for themselves.

I am in no way blaming you for this. That would be stupid of me to do, but why come here and try to make us look like idiots?

Seems like he gets all his shit shipped to his aunts house. His account on ebay is linked to Hollywood Florida. Who is Jose Yauri I wonder... The only results I get are in New York.

Well, whoever posted his name earlier spelled his last name wrong. I might have found mommy on switch board... Anyone want to call? Actually, I'm heading to bed. Call tomorrow.[/quote301ab6dece]

i don't know if this was mentioned before (kinda tired after reading the first 8 pages with 6 left to go) but if you check his myspace, it says he is moving to new york... maybe.... he's there and that's his REAL name

He probably just added that. He is so clever... lol

Anyway, he doesn't seem to understand that it doesn't matter where he goes, or where he says he's going. All we're going to do is assist the feds and local police the best we can. I don't know why he'd rather bullshit us and ruin his life like this.

[quote6fe1179407="fgr_admin"]lmfao, sorry guys I just think this is too funny.

Thats a lot of cash.[/quote6fe1179407]

I'm sorry but holy crap fgr_admin this is soo funny. I'm like dying laughing over here. i'm sorry, but it's funny.

the reason he didnt do that was Half would of caught on to the fact he bought so much with giftcards if he spread them out like he did it took them longer to detect it

I am sure he will get away with it as well. I have seen time and time again people getting scammed. The first thing people do is talk about all the authorities that are involved or who will be involved. It is easy to talk, but to act and follow through takes a lot of energy. I have yet to see anyone get legally nabbed for scamming. I sure hope I am wrong though.

I'd have to ditto this. If it goes beyond sitting @ your PC to write an angry email -- most people drop it. No one seems to want to take a stroll downtown, or pick up a phone.

I am going to start compiling the reports this week, but your posts pisses me off. If you were one of the scammed, why didn't you do anything and taking that indignant attitude instead of exepcting others to do all the work?

I don't care about the money, but I want to make sure he gets what's coming to him. I already sent an email to Amazon on behalf of those who paid with Amazon gc and told them we'll be reporting it to the police too. So all of you that are uninvolved and keep saying this is all talk, please be quiet (you guys seem eager to relieve him) and quit putting in your redundant and useless two cents. Like I've said before, we're not fucking publishing everything we do as that helps DLF.

At this point, "publishing" your contact with authorities is not going to help Finch, only make it more likely for him to get paranoid and maybe goof up somewhere. Has anyone actually filed a report with the police yet?

Moer power to all of you who are doing something about this. He surely should get what is coming his way. I did not send him any money, but he sure as heck tried to get me to do trades for him for the GCs. So, I was involved in a roundabout way. I just never trusted this whole scheme, and when I posted my doubts I was flamed for it. S I kept my mouth shut from that point on. Way too many people were hurt by this and those that did not get to use the half.com certs deserve to be compensated.

Well, my extent of involvement only includes receiving GCs from him that worked, so I don't have the type of involvement that many of you do. However, the lack of action, whether it be perceived or real, is frustrating to anyone that's ever been scammed by anyone.

I was under the impression that we were more powerful as a group, and that if all who were involved posted, detailed info was being gathered and sent to the appropriate people. I didn't think i personally had any real power, and I don't think calling the police in Miami with a few scraps of info will help.

Also, I think that given many people's attitude of "where did you think he was getting these gift certs - you had to know it was something criminal" I personally don't want to call the FBI. I don't want to call the cops and explain that I spent 2400 and bought about 4500 worth of stuff with gift certs that I now know are no good. I am looking for a solution where I can contribute in a way that doesn't expose or risk me.

So I'm asking what else should be done, given my above concerns.

Now I'm going back to the sweet sweet sounds of the White Stripes. It's been a rough few weeks....

That's exactly what we're doing, I guess I'll be putting everything together. I couldn't until now, as I've been crazy busy these past few weeks - you can see in my last PM where to get started. I'm still pretty busy but I just want to get the ball rolling.

In any case, I understand your concern and your frustration. Let's just get this shit done.
