Folks, there's a distinction between threadcrapping and letting the person know in a friendly way that they may not have much luck at that price. It might be a blurry distinction, depending on the wording, but it's a distinction nonetheless.

Of course you are free to offer whatever you like, and we are free to ignore it and move on if we feel it is too low. However some people might like to know why nobody is showing any interest in their offer, so a gentle reminder is not inappropriate, IMO. Personally, I would prefer someone tell me in a nice way than to ignore me and leave me hanging.

It wasn't too bad. It could have been worded a little more helpful, though. Something like

"Hi, looks like you're kinda new around here, so just in case you weren't already aware, the PayPal amount you're offering is a bit lower than what is commonly paid. You're certainly free to offer whatever you like, I just wanted you to know why you might not get much interest. If you don't have much luck at that price, you might peruse the other Trading Post threads to get an idea of going rates for referrals on sites such as these."
