lol I remember not knowing these terms either, thread bump is bumping your thread back up on the page where it lists all the threads.

everytime someone thinks you've contributed something nice to the forum they can click on the "+karma" button near your avatar. Over time you'll accumulate karma. It's basic motivation to be nice and polite on the forums and contribute various stuff(most people just + karma if someone makes a good joke)
