Well, when you devote your life and over $100 to it, then I guess you kinda deserve it ). One question for the iBook. I'm still confused is the 14" 1.0 GHz? It's not in stock anywhere anymore. Maybe they bought up a stock of the old ones. I think I'm gonna get the PayPal and save for the G5 Powerbook when it comes out.

I don't mind spending some free time on getting them, but I simple cannot afford to pay for referrals. Plain and simple.

I hope to add my "done!" to this thread in a few years.... roll wink

@PodTopia I'm wondering that myself. If they're purchasing these from a third-party vendor, then the 14" may still be a 1.0 GHz with no wireless card. However, if they're purchasing new from Apple directly, I don't believe that Apple makes the 1.0GHz anymore, and all iBooks now come with Airport Extreme standard (except the lowest-priced model through the educational program)

I also get "insider" news from the free4unetwork (free4unetwork.com, freepsp4u.com, etc.) since I'm the official congu for it (no advertisement!), and they'll be releasing a laptop site shortly.

It's legit, it's an OC program, and will work. I'm getting the Mac Mini and a powerbook g5 when they come out to supplement my SONY desktop.

That's because most people are stupid and buy the Inspiron 1150 or 5150, both of which have HUGE chassis and use P4 processors instead of Centrino and are generally heavy and a bitch to carry around.

The 600m is the only Inspiron model worth buying. It's about 4.6lb, has an SXGA+ screen option, and is all Centrino. It's the twin of the Latitude D600, which is what I have.

The Latitude line is very much superior to the shitty Inspirons. I generally avoid Dell's home line entirely. My parents have a PowerEdge 420SC, I have a PowerEdge SC400 that I pretty much built myself (aside from mobo, processor, case, and power supply) and a Latitude D600. I used to have an OptiPlex GX260 that was also excellent.

If you're going to buy a laptop, though, I wouldn't waste my money on any other brand, except IBM (although they cost nearly twice as much as a Dell with the same specs).

The only reason I don't like Dells is because I hate Windows. That's the only reason...

Ahaha see I <3 Windows. I know how to make Windows submit, be my bitch, and do everything I want it to do. The only time I have EVER gotten a BSOD in XP was due to a Winamp error one time, and the other times was from a horribly corrupted hard drive that had a bad boot sector. Other than that, though...it's my bitch. )

Well, I've done some research on that.

You CAN downgrade your PayPal account once for the life of the account. You can also have two accounts - one Premiere/Business and one Personal. Either way, you can avoid the PayPal cut on future payments, so don't rule out the cash option entirely!

I've got an Inspiron 5150, and I'm not stupid ( Actually, I originally bought an Inspirion 5100, but while under warranty I've had my system replaced twice...the second replacement was the 5150. To be honest, there really wasn't any problem with my system...I just convinced Dell that there was. They sent tech after tech to replace different parts, from the video card to the motherboard, to no avail. The problem, which I knew, was that my 16MB video card couldn't support Counter-Strike 1.6 lag-free. So, knowing that a system replacement would almost definately entail an upgrade (certain components become obsolete over time), I took full advantage of my in-home service warranty. I don't remember the specifications on my second system, but here's a simplified specification comparison of the first to the final

If money is no object, I'd always go for a ThinkPad. My old TP was accidentally dropped a few times with enough force to destroy other brands, and only came out with a dent.

I read up on getting a second account - you need a separate bank account and credit card. Unless PayPal accepts a savings account for your primary account, I can't do it. (
