I changed my referral ID last night so that I could trade with someone else and earn them some points and me some cash.
However, they don't see me as a referral on their account. Am I supposed to show up on their list? I assumed so, otherwise how would they know how many points I had earned them or even know if I had done anyhting at all?
Is it supposed to be instant?

No. It would show when you either click / complete an offer for them.
But if you did it correct, it would show ref id on offers page.
