He spoke at our quarterly manager's meeting yesterday. I was vaguely familiar with his career as a pro player and coach, but he came on as Alabama's head coach in the mid-late 80's right about the time I stopped following and rooting for Bama (and pretty much stopped following college football completely).

His stories of Bart Starr, whom he looks at as his big brother, Vince Lombardi, Willie Davis, Joe Namath, and others from his NFL days was captivating, and he's just an inspiring speaker overall. I think I'll have to go out and buy his book(s) now.

If you ever get a chance to hear him speak, I highly recommend it, but I expect his speaking engagement time will be cut soon. He's heading up Georgia State's new football program, scheduled to start up next year.

he used to be a regular guest on mike & mike on espn radio before he started coaching again.

always had a lot of great stories
