Anyone reserve this yet? I did a few weeks ago and I can't wait to get it. I was reading some information about it and it really seems kick-ass. They said that you're going to be able to go inside almost every building and the detail is going to be out of this world. I can't wait. Im usually not one to wait until midnight to get a game, but I think im gonna do it for this game. I love the GTA series D
Ya I can't wait to play it to. Graphics look awesome.

Downloadable episodic content is exclusive to Xbox 360. If you have a 360, I would consider buying it for the 360 instead of the PS3.
[quote28e3917f22]During Microsoft's 2006 E3 press conference on 9 May, it was announced that Rockstar Games will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version of the game. Peter Moore, the then head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two GTA IV downloadable packs exclusively for the Xbox 360, which will be released after the full game.
Moore described downloadable content as "epic episode packs", and not just extra cars or characters. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game.

get it for PS3 if you dont already have an xbox, because you will need to buy live and on top of that buy the content after you buy the game, not worth it for one game. And expect to get ass raped on the content prices.

I knew you'd show up with your irrational thoughts on why to choose the PS3.
You always act like 50 dollars for a year of playing is soo overpriced for an online gaming platform that is far superior to the PS3s.

Without getting into the whole BR vs HD and PS3 vs 360 wars, I have to strongly disagree on that statement. I've been watching upconverted DVD's for years, using one of the first and best upconverting players on the market when it came out (the Oppo).
Apparently you haven't been watching the right HD movies. ) The difference can be quite staggering, especially on a good TV. As much HDTV as I've seen, I was still blown away by the first HD-DVD I watched on my SXRD. Now, not all movies look a lot better -- they have to be shot & mastered in HD to get the most benefit. And whether the difference is worth $25-$30 instead of $15-$18 is totally subjective and up to you -- however Netflix (and I believe now BB as well) rents BR movies for the same price as regular DVD's, and I rent far more movies than I buy. ;)
I have yet to watch a BR or HD dvd. My local rental store doesn't have them.

And with average audio gear, you're right. Same as with the quality of the TV. Someone with a ProLogic receiver (or TV speakers) and a crummy TV won't gain any improvements at all from HD discs (other than the additional features like interactive content). But that's not the target audience, and HD gear sales is accelerating rapidly, even in these trying economic times. HD audio gear will absolutely blow away "average" Dolby gear, same as good HDTV quality will blow away an average TV set. So if you have the gear, there is a very significant difference in quality over regular DVD, both audio and video. If you don't, then there isn't.
So your claims of it being "not much better" are correct, but only when confined to a particular segment of the market. Which may happen to still be the majority of the market at the moment, but obviously there is plenty of market to support the HD movement, and that market is growing daily. It won't be the minority for much longer. ;)

Audio is much more important than video, and Blu-ray beats DVD in this department by a long shot. I can almost guarantee that you will get a much better viewing experience watching an action movie on a 27" SDTV with uncompressed sound (PCM, DTS-HD Master, Dolby TrueHD) than a 50" 1080p HDTV (sitting ~7ft away to even get the benefit of 1080p over 720p) with normal TV speakers.

While I won't argue about audio vs. video since that's up to each individual, I know I would rather watch a movie on a 50" 1080p than a 27" SDTV even if the HDTV had TV speakers.

QFT x3.
While I agree that audio is important, and either is subjective, I disgree that audio is "much more important" than video. For you, perhaps. Ultimately video is the reason most people watch movies. It's also the reason why many more people buy big screen HDTV's and use the built-in speakers, compared to those who stick with their old TV and go all out on HT audio gear.
If my choices were that limited, I would certainly prefer a big screen HD experience with mediocre sound quality, to awesome audio but small and low-resolution video. Obviously, though, you want as much of both as you can afford (or are willing to spend).

Meh, I think it's just alright. Maybe I'm not picking the right multi player games? I played Free For All and Cops and Robers. I thought Cops and Robers sucked. The fucking guys never die. I'd shoot them 100 times with my automatic weapon and they just pull out their pistol and kill me. Then you spawn 80 miles away.
Free for All is cool, but it will lose it's luster after you've done everything.

Yeah and I don't really like the decision making in the game either. Im just getting upto the part where you have to either kill [spoilera400cb6b00]playboy or dwayne. I think im gonna kill playboy because you get his apartment, but if you kill dwayne you get 25000. Also, if you kill dwayne playboy eventually leaves you because he says he see's too much of dwayne in you.[/spoilera400cb6b00]

If you haven't bought the game, you're going to get it on the console your friends are getting it, the exclusive is only for DLC, if it is something like a city, they could be what besthda did, and release it in blu ray disc forms, like the shivering isles add-on, available as DLC and in disc form
The exclusive is only for DLC!

PS3 is having a problem with this as well.
Also, there seems to be a lockup issue with the PS3 version as well for some consoles
[quoteedb92ec19d]Rockstar is working "around the clock" to fix freezing issues with GTA 4, Take-Two customer support has told VideoGamer.com.
We were told "A patch is being worked on around the clock to address the issues. It's bound to be. That's how they address this sort of thing. It is being worked on. We're looking into it. You will hear from us if a patch is released. A patch is usually the way it's been done."
We were also given some tips on how to combat the freezing experienced on the PS3 version of the game, including
li Completely remove the game from the system but leave saves behind.
li Turn the console off for 15 minutes without any cables plugged in, then turn it on and try again.
li Play without access to the Internet.
li Turn off the auto save function and the controller vibration setting.[/quoteedb92ec19d]
