They are having a shortage because they are re-tooling their factories to make the xbox2. Same thing happened to PS2 when they re-tooled for the PSP. Just read it today somewhere.

Still seems awfully early to be "retooling" for even a November release... I'm not saying it isn't possible - but I find it unlikely still. We're 7+ months away from November release, and they wouldn't transition ALL manufacturing to the next console until they were ready to start churning them out in vast numbers which I wouldn't expect to occur now and them to start warehousing 6+ months of inventory build-up.

Hey Josiah, blow me. Once again people have overreacted to a rumor that came from one single source. I think you'll find some more valid info at a more reliable website
http//www.engadget.com/entry/1234000617038368/
"Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, is squashing the rumor on his blog, saying that “We are NOT pulling the Xbox from stores. Xbox consoles being in short supply since they are popular and stopping production are two VERY different issues.”

by the way, I went to Best Buy yesterday, and they had tons of Xboxes available. They had some out on the floor, and then about twenty in an overstock area by the check out line. They were also taking orders on the website, shipped within 24 hours. A good alternative for anyone who is interested.

can you cite more than one single source? I talked with whats-their-names up in Michigan again, and they said they STILL don't have any x-boxes, and said they probably wont be able to get them towards the end of April. The woman also said that she thinks its likely that they'll only get a very small number of x-boxes in before they start selling the X-Box2, and that they its nearly certain they wont have enough to fulfill the existing orders for x-boxes they've got.
So its swell that bestbuy has got 'em, but it doesn't mean we'll get 'em. I'm pushing for a $150 check.

here's another source cock face. and i'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic about Spong's anonymous 'reliable sources.'
and eat a dick for your only quoting one source shit, when you gave one as well. at least my source had a quote from a real person with a title.
http//www.kotaku.com/index.php?page=2
Is the Xbox going the way of my sanity? The ever reliable Spong is quoting their favorite type of source, the anonymous one, saying that Microsoft hopes to rid stores of the Xbox in coming months. Retailers are being asked not to list the Xbox in any future catalogs. Spong goes on to say that there are only two million Xboxes left in the world and no more will be produced.
While I think the general idea of Microsoft gearing up for the launch of the Xbox 360 but cutting back on Xbox production, is a good one, I doubt the particulars. First off, if rumors about the lack of backwards compatibility for the 360 our true then there is no reason to completely stop making the Xbox. The longer you can keep a form factor around the more profitable it becomes, Sony proved that with the PSOne. I’m sure Microsoft won’t turn a blind eye to all of that cash.

Yeah, I still hold out that it would be VERY strange if Microsoft stopped making the original, but I can sort of see both sides of the situation.
As far as willietanner and Josiah fighting over it, I find it all rather silly (especially the juvenile depths willie seems willing to go in his verbal assaults - but what's new). This should merely be a forum where we can all discuss what's going on and what information is out there.
This issue comes down to speculation on both sides of the fence until Microsoft themselves either address the issue in a press release or we start seeing the XBOX supply increasing all around. The fact BestBuy has plenty doesn't say much for us considering their marketing clout - they and other mega retailers will get nearly 100% of a low supply and the rest of the little retailers/distributors have to deal with any leftovers that might be available. Our role is one of speculation and waiting. Asking for the $150 check I don't think is uncalled for, but other than that we're basically left to wait and keeping asking questions.
Lets at least keep it civil - "cock face" just makes me laugh.

Here's why I don't like Josiah
1) His name is Josiah. That is a terrible name. Don't try to defend it, just ask yourself, would I rather be named my own name, or change it to Josiah. Let's see the hands of who would switch.
2) He looks like a prick in his picture. Nice glasses. Janine Garafolo would like them back.
3) His typing mannerisms irritate me, far too many RANDOMLY capitalized words for emphasis.

Well, I'll go ahead and give my vote - I really like the name Josiah and actually considered it for my son (yes, I'm a 30-year old adult - unlike many on this board).
In regard to your other two points... very interesting - I think it says more about you than it does about Josiah.

Unless you're aiming for the Johnny Cash, Boy Named Sue strategy of toughening up your kid by giving him the shittiest name possible so that he has to fight kids every day who pick on him because of it, I suggest you reconsider.

I stand (or type) humbled - it is a good name. I do recall Alf and always did hate the father character. Although I thought he was appropriate in the rather poor "Norm" (Norm Macdonald).
It was mostly a knee-jerk reaction to "shittiest name possible" - being opinionated is one thing, but being utterly stupid is another.
I'm done with this petty business. I'll stick to on topic nonsense from now on - apparently I'm not clever enough.

I've long considered, and had it reiterated by others, that my name pretty much kicked ass. Hearing that someone dislikes it, of course I take seriously. Coming from somebody named WillieTanner, well, I've gotta take that with a grain of salt.
