i went in today to try and return my ipod shuffle for store credit, because i already had bought an ipod shuffle but they didnt let me return it, not even for store credit, the guy was scanning the bar code, and he said the number wasnt in their inventory so they couldnt let me get store credit since it wasnt purchased at an apple store.

i had told them it was a gift and shit, but still no go.

has anyone had any luck with doing this?

I think the key is that you received it as a gift, and were interested in another product at their store instead of it.

"My cousin didn't know I already had one, and it's so rude to ask for receipts!"

compusa will let your get store credit for it. They just require you to give them your personal info (ie driver's license)

Get a girl to go in and flirt with the sales men (given its a guy) you might have better luck wink

I tried taking mine to a local store(Not Apple). They low balled me. They told me they would give me $130.00 instore credit. Talk about wankers.

they are offering you the student discount price. Have in mind what you want to exchange it for and do it all when you go to the register. They don't want you to be able to buy a shuffle from a school store for 130 and get credit for 150 at their store.

BestBuy will also give you store credit. Just say you got it as a gift.

Ya I work for comp and they will give you store credit. If they don't ask to talk to a manager. If still no go tell them you want the regional managers number they should return it than as a last resort. If they don't, call the regional manager and they will give you anything you want.

Did you buy it with your credit card?
No? Then why would they credit it to your credit card?

Store credit for the full $150. And they got tons more shit at comp than at an apple store.

I managed to get the $150 full store credit for the shuffle, but I still got the educational discount when I bought the 60GB Photo.

Of course, the Photo I got has a bad hard drive and/or docking connector, so now I have to take it back and get another new one... roll

Seeing as though you work at a CompUSA store I have a question for you. I have heard that you can purchase an extended warranty through your store even if you didn't the ipod from CompUSA. I think that it is called the TAP warranty? Just wondering if this was true, thanks!

I apologize if this is something that is well known by everyone here, but I am new to the iPod scene. )
