I've been reading around the forum about people trading their photo ipod 40g for a 30g and accessories directly to apple. is it then possible to trade in an apple 20g and get other apple gear through the apple store? what's the deal?

just go in and say i would like storecredit for this as it is unopened and they'll give u store credit to buy anything u want

I did that for mine at Best Buy. I just said I got it and wanted to return it and didn't have a store receitpt. They didn't even ask why I wanted to return it, they just grabbed it and threw a store credit card at me )

Just tell them you got it as a gift if you're nervous. It doesn't look like too many people have had a hard time at the store so you should be fine. Tell us how it turns out. Good luck.
