At least for iPods they are pretty much on the ball. The turn around time is pretty good.

have you tried using the Mac Mini OS X install DVD that came with the mac and reinstall OS X?

apple support is typically rated as one of the tops in the business.

Robitzle,
I think several of us on here have tried to help you. You basically have only a few options here. 1.) Fix permissions. 2.) Reinstall OS X 3.) Hardware issue.
If you've done 1 and 2, then #3 is probably your problem. I think Neo is on to something with the RAM.

Now, as for Apple's customer service, metfoo is correct - it's known as one of the tops in the business. If their procedure is what the guy at the Apple Store told you, then that's the procedure. Just do what he said and your Mac will be fixed. They have a fast turnaround from what I hear. And then you know your Mac will be either fixed or new.

Consider this I've heard horror stories of people calling Dell customer service because "That's a Windows issue so call Microsoft" or "That's a printing issue, call Hewlett Packard." Apple does the OS and the machine, so they handle all of it and make it much easier.

Hey, call that number. Maybe the tech on the line can help you. The sooner you call Apple and follow their Warranty procedure, the sooner you have your Mac up and running.

As for the guy at the Apple Store, did you tell him you drove that long? Maybe he would have helped you out if you did... or maybe not.

you should really try the Apple Discussions. Great help there.

I've yet to see one report put it below #1.

Lowest DOA (Dead on arrival) in the industry (even below sun), highest customer satistfaction, and shortest support time.

Been that way for about 15 years now.

That's what I heard. I don't particularly like apple, but I hear their support is number one in the business. That's what they get for using really Americans instead of Indians (not native americans)
