So my freeflatscreen has been sent in for approval, and I was wondering what shape the monitors are in that people get. Also, what online store are they purchased from? I am mostly only concerned about getting a monitor with 1 or more dead pixels. That would really make me upset. I plan on getting the Samsung 710n and going dual screen with it, but if there is a chance of poor quality I may go with the sony and sell it, then buy the 710n or an equivalent (12ms response time, samsung quality).
What are everyone else's thoughts? Also, has anyone heard about a Samsung policy guaranteeing no dead pixels and have more information on it? I can't find anything like that on their site.

Everything you get from Gratis is new. So they should be in perfect condition although i have heard that the TV's have problems every once in a while.
The monitors all have manufacturers warranties so you can get them replaced very easily.
The 710n has a better refresh rate, that is good if you are gamer but the 19" is a 19" so its all in the preference.

Although in their TOS there is a note that they can send you whatever they want, Gratis is [b8adb397aaf][i8adb397aaf][u8adb397aaf]ALWAYS[/u8adb397aaf][/i8adb397aaf][/b8adb397aaf] sending brand new staff, from the manufacturers of the item. My monitor came sealed, brand new, in original packaging - same as if you get it from BestBuy for example. Don't worry about the quality. The only problem they might have, is if you're ordering the WEGA flatscreen - it frequently gets damaged during the shipping, as either Sony or the shipping company is not doing a good job protecting them.

19" is 19"...with two big of a dot pitch and slower refresh rate. I'm doing dual 17's.

if you get a monitor with dead pixels, it won't be because Gratis. I bought a Samsung 710N recently and I had a stuck pixel in the dead-center of my screen. Samsung is sending a refurbished replacement, but it's been a HUGE hassle, and I'd been told their normal policy was 9 or more dead pixels on a 17 inch monitor.
^ you got a replacement monitor over just ONE dead pixel? Wow...how'd you manage that?

good question...first of all (not to be picky, but...), it was stuck pixel which I find to be much more of a pain in the ass than a dead one. additionally, it was in the absolute center of the viewing area, so I think they took that into consideration as well.
All that said, I too was shocked.
