I'm really interested in the whole freeipod hype, but the only problem is that I live up north.

The OfferCentric offers are available to Canadians. They're as reputable as the Gratis offers.
They have several sites like Gratis, the iPod one is at mp3players4free.com

If you want one that's not "pyramid-based" you'd probably want to go for a point-based site, but that may require a good number of sign-ups. Though I'm also not aware of one that lets Canadians sign up.
