I just got approved and am going to order but I was wondering when they are going to start offering the 60GB version instead of 40GB. I emailed them and they said they are going to make an announcement when they decide. I'm worried that once I receive mine they'll start offering the 60GB version. I don't get why they couldn't start offering them right away since they ship directly from eCost and are the same price. Anyway, since I get a receipt from eCost when the iPod ships, if I get the 40GB version is it possible to send it back to eCost and exchange it for the 60GB version? Has anyone ever tried anything like this?

No, but putting off your order submission might be a good idea. (I know it's probably too late for you, but others could wait)

I considered it and deceided to order today, I mean, is 20 gigs really worth the possible VERY LONG wait? Not for me. Ill never use all 40 anyway.

Well, it might be worth it for those waiting to move up to the better mini's.....assuming Gratis doesn't create a new site.

I think an extra 20GB is worth a bit of a wait, that's about $100 difference in price and I could always find uses for that extra space. I'm going to wait off on my order and see if they say something soon, hopefully I won't be waiting too long. I think the new iPods photos are in stock and ready to ship so I don't think it would take any longer to get one if they were to decide to offer the 60GB in place of the 40GB. I'll send them another email to ask about it, anyone else using this site might want to do the same. Maybe if we all keep asking they'll hurry up and say what they're doing??

I already asked them. The answer I got is
"We will be shipping the exact iPod that is listed on our site")

how much do the 40 gigs go for $

$379-$399 but they come with about $100 of extra accessories that Apple no longer includes with the new 30GB and 60GB versions. For that reason I kept the 40GB rather than try to return and upgrade it at an Apple Store.

I just got this response when I asked them

"We will post any updates to the main page of our web site-- but currently we are shipping 40 GB iPod models."

Looks like we'll be getting 40's for a while
