The "word on the street [gearlive.com]" is that both the iPod mini and the current non-photo iPods will be upgraded to color screen versions AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE in the next couple of weeks. While my only source for this info is a news article on gearlive, I'm wondering....should this info be correct, will Gratis begin offering the color version as an option on their site for 5 references?

does this mean the color screen minis will be available in a few weeks? or just that apple will make an announcement of the date in a few weeks

Off topic Everything seems to be shifting to color. Before long microwaves will offer 24bit color displays.

Aw man, now I'm all torn. It's possible I may be finally finishing freeipods in the next few days. But I would LOVE a color screen. Is it possible to wait before asking for approval? That would take massive willpower on my part. Plus, who knows, I may get put on hold and have to wait months anyway )

If I sell this ipod, I'd have to start over again with another site... that is, if they decide to offer the new 20GB as well. I'm so confused!

Liz, you could do what I wast thinking and try to sell your iPod and pay the difference for the color. Maybe make a few bucks in trades and you wouldn't even have to do it out of pocket? Hopefully they will be out sooner than we thing because I hate waiting!

sounds like a good thing to do, but i dont see why they will change the 20 gig into a color screen.

Word on the street was wrong - no 20Gb color this time around. The 20Gb 4G still exists. No more 40Gb 4G and no more 40Gb Photo. New 30Gb photo, tho. It will be interesting to see what gratis does.

Here was my post from the Off-Topic Forums http//www.freeipodguide.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6934

http//www.ipodlounge.com and http//www.apple.com. The iPod photos have been bumped down to 30GB instead of 40, priced at $349, while the 60GB had a $150 price drop and now costs $449. The 40GB has been eliminated. Anyone have a guess as to which will be on freephotoipods? The AV cord has been dropped from the iPod photo, as has the dock.

The iPod mini has been upgraded to 6GB for $249.99, now ousting it's competitors memory. Creative and iRiver all "bragged" about how they have 25% more space, but now the mini is king! The 4GB version is now available for $199. It seems as if Apple's going for the affordability option. Battery life in both models has increased to a whopping 18 hours, again overpowering competitors. It retains the same monotone screen. The color "gold" has been dropped from the iPod mini's line up, and the other colors have been made more "vibrant". The buttons on the click wheel (i.e. play, fast forward, rewind, menu) are now the same color as the iPod mini itself. It's quite acool effect.

Dropped from both packages were the traditional FireWire cords and chargers, which are now replaced with Apple's new USB cord and charger (the one that comes with the iPod shuffle).

Many on iPodLounge were dismayed at the results, read their comments here http//ipodlounge.com/ipodnews_comments.php?id=6505_0_7_0_C

Regardless whether monochome screen iPods are actually withdrawn from the market, Gratis should either reset current fi accounts so people could complete a new offer & get new referrals for the new model, or simply create a new site.

It's unfair to deny those who completed, or even those who [i75887a8eba]tried[/i75887a8eba], the chance of obtaining the new models.

It works for Gratis as well, as those who failed in their first attempt, but completed [i75887a8eba]their[/i75887a8eba] offer, can now do it again, and fill Gratis' pockets some more.

Just changing the models on fi.com is a slap in the face. (

On a personal note, I lose out if they do, as my "missing" iPod photo has been shipped now.

I'd like a shot at the new ones too. ;)

I wish apple would give a release date of the color 20gigs, i hate all the speculation. well [ib1a79c3a30]maybe[/ib1a79c3a30] they will be out sometime later this year. I just got a regular 4g, 20gb, and i would like to get the color, but i just wish i knew when the release is?

do you mean the regular 4g ipod minis?

i'm going to apply for approval again soon but i really want one of the new ipod minis. i was thinking i could order the regular 20 gig one and then sell it and use the money to buy a new mini in an apple store. perhaps post flyers on university bulletin boards first to avoid ebay and paypal fees. good idea? or should i try to wait it out and see if gratis updates the minis they offer.

kaymin

28-02-2005 19:18:21

ya, they're staying with the regular minis, i dunno why, won't they have to get the new ones eventually?

Tholek

You could probably wait it out without any problems.
