I already know about the iSkin, but are there any other good ones out there that are cheaper?

Yes. Get the Jam Jackets. Look for them on ebay. A certain iPod accessories dealer (i think their name is ipodaccessories) sells a lot of them for very low prices (about 17 after shipping). They come with screen protectors and chains too.

I've heard the Lajo cases are good - the Jam Jackets are inexpensive and CompUSA sells them (At least last time i heard they did), but they pick up lint really easily and have no screen protector. You can get a Lajo case + protector + belt clip for like $30 total...

The ones they sell on eBay do come with screen protectors and a belt clip and a chain. For less than $18 after shipping I think it's a very good deal compared to other iPod skins out there.

If I had a remote I wouldn't need a belt clip. It's a trade-off, I guess.

Careful. I thought the iSkin came with a standard round little belt clip clip, but it doesn't; they have their own proprietary little setup. I worked out a way to mount it in my car anyway, but it was a bit of a disappointment.

Lajo has cases as cheap as $9.95 (cheaper during sales or if you are a new signup and get the initial $5 off, which basically pays for shipping though).

The $9.95 cases are the exo3 (without any accessories) which is a mere .7 mm of silicone - not really enough protection for a significant drop - but it does cover the clickwheel and provide adequate protection from small bumps and all scratches.

Next up the chain is the exo3x which is 1.2mm of silicone. Folks are still a little uncertain of whether 1.2 is enough for big drops, but again, it'll give more protection than the .7mm, keep your iPod slim still, but not as much drop protection as the 2mm other exo skins and the iSkin evo2. I like the exo3x, seems like a nice balance, especially at $12.50 (for only the skin).

Good comparison here http//202.153.110.46/Xskn/features/4g_ipod.asp

Lajo's skins are just starting to ramp up in production, so their site will be pretty limited in supply (they have a live inventory system so you know if they have stock). Lajo is sending out his initial volume to resellers, then fulfilling direct sales.
