Anapod Explorer allows dragging and dropping of MP3s to and from the iPod. The only thing you need from the iPod CD is the Updater Utility.

You should be able to uninstall QuickTime after you install iTunes. You can also try using Ephod, which is a freeware program. However, why uninstall QuickTime? You need it for movie plugins on a lot of websites...

You're missing out, man. I'm the biggest neat-computer freak, and I use one of the most obscure audio players for the most part, but I supplement it with iTunes. It's just a slick program, and it won't choke with even huge libraries (lilicoughliliWMPlilicoughlili)

Quicktime sucks, yes, but don't let it associate itself with anything, install Quicktime Alternative for .movs,url==http://=http:///url andforgetaboutit.

iTunes destroyed me...I completely refuse to use it after what I had to deal with. Winamp 2.9 does what I need on my computer, and Anapod works wonders with my iPod. P

i use Aces Mega Codecs pack to watch .movurl==http://=http:///url videos on my computer. It runs them (as well as real media files) in windows media player

I havent been to a website that needed the quicktime plug-in in a long time (an important website anyway)

I don't use Windows but isn't it just a USB storage device? If you just plug it in and go to my computer, wouldn't you see a new drive, which is the ipod HD itself and you can just drag and drop like that? I recall doing that for my digital camera, I do not like using the software companies give with their products. bloat!

You can't just simply drag and drop songs on your ipod withough using a 3rd party program. The reason is that the ipod creates a database for your songs, and puts them into certain folders (all beginning with the letter "F" for some reason. If you just drag and drop audio files into the drive, it wont be included in the database, therefore unable to play.

Why wouldn't you want Quicktime? Personally, I wouldn't want WMP or anything associated with it on my computer.... oh wait, I don't.

I dunno...I've thus far been very impressed with WMP10 Final...it's FAST as shit compared to 8 and 9, and they finally included an MP3 codec for free so you can rip audio.

I like it because I do college tech support with residents, and they're always asking me how to rip music and burn CDs with their new computer...WMP10 is by far the easiest interface I've seen for computer illiterate people, so I end up installing it for them and showing them how to use it. Hell, if I weren't so attached to Winamp and CDex even I might use it. )

did you have to use the Updater Utility in order to use ml_ipod with Windows Me?
