At the risk of sounding like a total noob, I'm just not sure how it works.

Bear with me here, I'm not sure exactly what you're asking to do.

If you want one of those shots in your signature that people have showing what they see on their freeipods order page, do this
1) Go to that page
2) Hit the PrintScreen button on your keyboard
3) Open up Paint
4) Edit>Paste (yes to "bitmap enlarged")
5) With the rectangle selection tool, draw a box around what you'd like to show
6) Edit>Copy
7) Image>Attributes
8) Enter a width of 1 and a height of 1
9) File>New (no don't save changes)
10) Edit>Paste
11) Save as a GIF or PNG (not as a JPG!!!)
12) go to imageshack.us, and upload your image.
13) After the image is uploaded, select the code they make for you in the first box (the "blablabla[" alt=""/img]" stuff)
14) Edit your profile here and enter that [img="]blablabla[" alt=""/img] into the box for your signature
15) be sure to enable your signature when you post (when you want to show it)
16) voila!

Mine is a jpg... what's the problem with that?

FYI Tyketto yours isn't currently working...it's been a red X for a couple of days.

Saving images as jpegs in Paint is a bad idea because the way they're compressed creates really shitty-looking images. If you use Photoshop to control the compression, etc, then there's no problem with jpegs.

Oh.... OK. Thanks for letting me know. It shows up on my screen... weird.

I use photoshop, so I didn't think anything about it.

id recommend blacking out a few digits of your order number too, just to be on the safe side.

not really (http//www.r1ch.net/img-formats/)
jpgs are generally going to look shitty and be large for screenshots. there's no reason not to save a screenshot to gif or png even through photoshop.

It just gets old to see people taking full-screen screenshots and posting them as jpegs. I'll stop now.

Tyketto, yours doesn't show up for me @ home or work computers...

You might want to try to re-do it or something...
Or maybe it's not on your server anymore and you need to upload it again and your seeing it because its cached on your comp....

No reason at all to block out the numbers.

Yeah there is... I'll just email gratis with your order number and say that I moved and have the address changed... Hows that for a reason...
