The TOS says they can send refurbs. Has anyone gotten a refurb? Or heard reports of refurbs being sent? Or has everything been brand spanking new?

From what I'm reading, I'm not getting mine for another 6+ months... but I'm still curious. 8)

It means it was defective/broken... So they fixed it and sold it...

Any refurb with an Apple warranty must be clearly marked as such.

It's been Apple's policy for ages now (at least since the mid 90's).

It's still got a HD. And lets face it, as good as HD's are getting, they still spin fast, and do have a rate of failure that increases with age.

I dont think they have sent any refurbs of the 20gb or the mini's, but back when there was the 3G 15GB there were referbus being sent out

I'm pretty sure none of the 20GB iPods are refurbished, as since the 4th Generation pods are fairly new, refurbs are rare. Plus, refurbished is fine, honestly. They fix damaged or defective units to meet the same Q&A standards as new iPods, so there shouldn't be any problems.

and i believe they come with a longer warrenty

In general, the only refurbs that people should worry about, are the ones done by third parties.

For instance, when you see those full page ads in newspapers from electronic stores, chock-full of laptops and other goods that say they are refurbished, it's usually by them, or a local company.

THOSE are the refurbs you should worry about, as they often use substandard parts, and often cut corners.

Whenever a product is refurbished by the original company, there is still a slight risk, but it is infinitesimal in comparison.

I'd prefer a new iPod, but I'd settle for an Apple refurb'd one.
