Hmm I wonder why Jake hasn't been on since the deadline...

Jake hasn't been on since the deadline because he has no way to answer our legitimate complaints. When he does respond, he'll probably give us some kind of explanation. Then, later, he'll tell us all that it was a lie, but his superiors told him to do it, so it's okay.

Wow..... How can your complaints about the deadline be legit? They have the right to do it if they want to. It's not that hard to get your refs in 90 days. You had plenty of warning.

Personally I don't like the deadline either, but there's really nothing you can do about it.

nobody2000

01-06-2006 17:10:07

there's plenty you can do about it.

A part of the T&C says that you can be granted up to 30 extra days for offers to credit...if you sign up a referral and he completes an offer on May 29, even if it isn't instant, it technically IS a completed offer, and you can prove what day it was completed.

Also, the liability issue I've been talking about in other threads.

People sympathize with freepay...they say that b/c it's their rules, if you break them, or get caught by them, it's your fault. For most of the time that's correct, but when you get nailed by a technicality, then they're just sleezy, and maybe, if that technicality is vague enough, they're doing something against the law.

Also, how is 90 days enough for a laptop? 20 refs in 90 days...that's 1 ref every 4 or 5 days, but still that's hard to do. Even 8 refs is tough, especially when freepay has already reached a number of people and there are fewer people out there to actually complete offers now, than there were a year ago, even a month ago, or even yesterday...it's just a fact.

Well the deadline is "legit" in the sense that it's legal, due to their TOS, but that doesn't mean its anywhere near fair. I don't consider it "plenty of warning" when people were given just a few days to get 4 extra PS3 referrals, when FreePay wasn't creditting any offers.

Unfortunately, I don't think we have any levrage on FreePay about the thing in their TOs about being granted extra time if you were creditted for an offer. It says that you "may" be granted extra time, giving them the choice, and of course, they will never give anyone extra time.

Yeah it sounds like I'm trying to cover up for something dumb I said but I'm not. I should have just asked for some valid points as to why people think they are being treated unfairly by Freepay (besides the obvious).

But I really did mean this part -

[quote499398fa96]Personally I don't like the deadline either, but there's really nothing you can do about it.[/quote499398fa96]

I was unaware of this 30 extra day thing. I've been away from the freebie scene for a while kind of. oops

I think Freepay's succeeded in ridding themselves of the majority of "pro" freebie hunters like us with this 90-day limit and their mass advertising around the internet. Their goal right now is to hook onto the random people on Myspace and such, get them to do a few offers and refer less than the number required to get a gift and just lose all hope. It's rather an excellent strategy from a business standpoint.

Maybe Jake hasn't been on because he is busy, or maybe he is away on vacation, or maybe he had a family emergency, or maybe he got abducted by aliens that wanted free ipods and didn't like the 90 day rule... Don't presume you know anything about his personal life or why/why not he isn't posting. Now, I'm not a FreePay fanboy, but I'm not going to take my frustration out on the one person who tries to help people.

Why do you say Jake's been on today? Because I'm showing that he hasn't logged in since 5/26.

Well, phpBB tracks the last visit date (not post date) of every user. Jake's user record shows his last visit (i.e., last time he logged in) as 5/26. Not sure what's up with the index page list, but phpBB hasn't recorded his login.

I'm crossing my fingers that he comes back too, he was so helpful. I do really feel bad for him though because he gets hundreds of PMs and stupid junk that he shouldn't have to deal with - people's complaints. He didn't make the changes nor does he have anyway to change it yet people [bdf5c479382]still[/bdf5c479382] complained to him, instead of Freepay. Let's hope he'll be back though.

I'm glad to see my avatar is spreading. It took me all of 5 seconds to make.

People act like Jake comes on these forums out of the kindness of his heart. This is part of his job for FreePay. They pay him to do this. He's just like all the other customer service representatives that everyone says they hate.

That's where you're wrong. I've seen Jake go above and beyond for a number of users to try and deal directly with their problems in a much more timely manner than the other customer service team at Freepay. I mean, you're right.. it is his job and he gets paid to do it but do you really think they pay him to try and get people off hold? Obviously not, yet I've seen Jake do all he could do for users in the past regarding that. We'll just have to wait and see if he comes back I suppose, I know I'm crossing my fingers.

Yes and no. When he is on here answering questions, he is on the clock. However, he's not being forced by his superiors to be on the forums.
