So my HP iPod just got shipped out on Tuesday. The scheduled delivery date, according to UPS, has been Monday 9/20 for the whole week. And now it's a day before they deliver my iPod and they reschedule it?!? Can UPS even do this??? I have to move to back to college on the day they deliver! WTF! Anybody else experience this?

They can do whatever they want.

Call them and tell them you're moving.

They had to do that for some memory cards I ordered last week from eCost, so now I'm getting them the same day as my ipod. Did they give you a reason? For me, it said "A Late Train Caused This Delay".

that sucks, yea you should just call them and tell em to ship it to your other address

They never gave me a reason! They just rescheduled the delivery during the weekend on the day before they're supposed to deliver! WTF! I'M NEVER SHIPPING THROUGH UPS EVER AGAIN! IT'S DHL OR FEDEX OR USPS FROM NOW ON!

Dangit, they just switched me from the 20th to the 21st. I'm having the worst luck with this thing. I live in Southern California too....

DHL? Yeah, good luck with that.

Call them and ask to pick it up. Simple as that.

All carriers have their bad moments. Generalizing is a waste of time.

See this is the same thing that happened to me. Sigh. Oh well. It's not THAT BAD waiting ANOTHER DAY I guess......... I'll just preoccupy myself with the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy for the day. Or I can start packing my stuff for college.

Northern Cali and Southern Cali are pretty much their own states. People here, including me, usually say we're from Southern California, not just California. Kind of cocky but we don't like being associated with the less fun side of Cali =]

You do realize that by shipping UPS ground, you have no control over how fast it gets to you, and i'm sure the same thing can happen with FedEX and DHL.

maestro

19-09-2004 21:56:40

Yeah. I remember it took about two weeks to get a shipment using UPS once.

It just happens. You just gotta wait.

Definitely a good call, unless you want to wait around the house everyday, hoping you don't miss the truck.

I'm taking action tomorrow. I'm calling UPS like da suggests and I'm going to the UPS warehouse where it's sitting, which according to the tracking info is only 6 miles away. But first I'm going to give the UPS customer service a piece of my mind over the phone. And then I'm going to kindly ask if I can pick up my iPod.

Well, mines still in Vernon California, and since thats most likely far away, I guess I'm going to have to wait....dangit

psykoalby

Yeah mine is in Vernon too. According to MapQuest I'm only 6 miles away so I should be good to go. But then I'm not counting on anything good happening anymore after this fiasco.

I can't guarantee that they'll let you pick it up since they're not normally set up for such a thing, but I think given the circumstances, it would be the best thing.

Also, I'd switch the order of your last two tasks if I were you.

I probably wouldn't be so cool and collected if I was in your shoes, and I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to freight, but I did run a shipping department for a few years. There are a few things you should understand

1) UPS Ground, as stated, is UPS's lowest priority.
2) Contrary to observed belief, UPS Ground can, in some cases, carry a guaranteed delivery time. HOWEVER, this is only from business to business.
3) Based on this, you should do everything in your power in the future to have things shipped to a business location. Even if you work at McDonalds, it's better and easier for Joe UPS to drop it off there than trying to hunt down a house.
3b) UPS competes with FedEx and USPS for shipper accounts. If a company is getting all of their UPS packages on time or a day early, the business is much more likely to sign with UPS to ship their packages. It's not as big of a deal for a house to get a package late.
4) Since there are guaranteed transit times for business-to-business for UPS Ground, a package destined for business delivery will be of higher priority to all involved in the shipment.

Most of this is of little consequence to you now, but just keep it in mind when fighting with UPS. They'll remain impartial about it. UPS does an amazing job everyday. They do their job well. If there's one thing that you really can't and shouldn't argue with them about, though, it's ground transit time.

Yes! They rescheduled it again, and now its moved back to today! In the tracking information, it even says "Out For Delivery". We'll see how this unfolds...

at least yours is shipped/delivered.

How long did you wait after it was "sent to vendor"?
