i'm new here, and am just beginning to understand how this whole thing works. i understand that you need to get a certain amount of people to sign up for your site, but couldn't someone just change their ip address and sign up for themselves?

also, how many referrals does a digital camera site need?

No. Individual users are identified by credit card and address. Also, finding ways to scam sites is [b0fb917018e]highly[/b0fb917018e] frowned upon here.

Welcome to the site. I advise you to read the rules so as not to get in any trouble. wink

ok, thanks. sorry, i was just wondering if someone could do that. i'm not going to try to do it that way.

questoon 1 short answer--absoluetly not.

longer answer--it is completely against their terms of service. these sites are not naive enough to simply check IP addresses to see if referrals are legitimate. when you have a whole "fraud prevention team," chances are they arent simply checking to see if each referral had a different IP address. its pretty in depth, and i have NEVER heard of anyone successfully cheating these guys. im sure i would be pretty paranoid as well if i was in charge of giving people millions of dollars worth of items... i would want to make sure they followed the rules.

question 2 the camera site requires 10 referrals

so let me just make sure. they don't let you use the same credit card twice? even if one of my friends didn't have a credit card, and I did it all under his name, i couldn't let him use my credit card?

nothing wrong with asking! im sure the thought crossed almost everyones mind the first time they saw one of these sites before reading their rules.

i highly doubt that would ever work. you can obviously use YOUR credit card with YOUR name on multiple different sites, but if they see joe johnson with visa card #435 sign up and do an offer with his card, and then they see that joe johnson refers fred jones who signs up and does an offer with visa card #435, accounts will be put on hold left and right.

if someone doenst have a credit card, a debit card may be a good choice, or a "prepaid visa gift card"... i have never personally used (or seen!) one of these, but my understanding is they are simply prepaid credit cards that work just fine.

I believe you can get the prepaid Visa cards at most banks.

ok, thanks. so once he gets one and uses it, it will just be thrown away, right?

Actually, you can keep it, and just keep putting more money on it if you want to use it again. You can throw it away if you like, but keeping it saves you time if you ever need to use one again.

I saw it mentioned in another thread here that Jake said Freepay doesn't mind you or your referrals using a borrowed CC as long as the offer sponsors themselves don't mind. Freepay actually doesn't see your CC anyway, does it? The CC goes through the sponsor offers, not through Freepay.

BTW a lot of gas stations and grocery stores sell prepaid Mastercards/VISA's.

AAA has them too.
another option is signing up for a paypal account and using one of their virtual accounts
