Has anyone seen or heard of those guys who made that 2-minutes video about how the iPod batteries fail, and they spray-painted over signs in a quest to get Apple to reimburse them, and eventually forced Apple to make a battery replacement program? It occurs to me that if the situation with Gratis gets [i653bf1c0a3]really[/i653bf1c0a3] ridiculous, we could do something similar--make a movie like that, and threaten to release it if they don't send out our iPods. I don't think it's gotten to that yet, but I could see it getting to that if it looks like we're just flat not going to get them at all. If it just continues with the current trend, then they're going to put themselves out of business anyway, but I think we should at least have some assurance that we will get our pods...

Sounds like a magnificently stupid idea to me.

Very constructive, thanks. And why are you still on this forum again?

Because I'm a moderator.

What would your "movie" accomplish? You can't pressure them into sending your iPod any quicker, or at all.

It isn't a good idea. You didn't even pay for the iPod and you're [bcd87cfe1ec]demanding[/bcd87cfe1ec] to get it. Under the terms and conditions they MAY give you an iPod. Just take a chill pill and wait for it to come in the mail.

Would it help? No. But remember we DID pay for our iPods. It's not free by any stretch of the imagination.

You agreed to the Terms of Service when you signed up. You agreed that Gratis is under no time obligation; indeed, they can decide that nobody gets an iPod, as they've reserved that right. You're taking a risk. The payoff? An iPod - sometime. So, while we all want everything NOW, it's just not going to happen. Mine took two months. Just stop checking your status, watching this forum, etc. Someday you'll be surprised with an email telling you your iPod is on the way.

Here's an idea from way back distribute a petition. They always seemed to have worked in Grade School.

...and no, the movie wasn't the reason Apple came up with the battery service.

That is also called Extortion and is illegal in most places in the US (possibly all, but I'm not 100% sure).

you cannot extort money or goods from someone.. makeing a video then threatening gratis to release it if you do not send you an ipod is extortion.

A guy did a similar thing to Google a while back and got thrown in jail. He released a program which would cost Google a lot of Advertiser money. He threatened to release it if Google didn't give him some money. They called one of the government agencies like the FBI and then set up the exchange. When he exchanged goods, he was arrested for extortion.

I believe (could be wrong) that extortion is a federal offense, meaning it is illegal in EVERY state. Once the FBI is involved, it's federal. D

Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ, people are taking this too seriously. I've never heard anyone use the word "extortion" to describe notifying the public about fraud. All I'm talking about is finding a way to hold Gratis up to their end of the bargain, because if they don't do that, then [iabc0d8caad]yes[/iabc0d8caad], it [iabc0d8caad]is[/iabc0d8caad] fraud, regardless of whatever their Terms of Service says. At any rate, I was just posing this as a possible suggestion if, in a couple months, it looks like we're never going to get our iPods and we come to the conclusion that they've just defrauded a bunch of us. I don't think it'll come to that. It was just an idea. Chill the flick out, Yolandas.

If you thought it was a fraud, you shouldn't have agreed to the T&C. I don't think it's a fraud, simply for the reason that the T&C says that you may not receive your gift.

Yeah Collidge is right you definitly agreed to the Terms you cannot complain i realize it takes forever but it is free afterall. I have been waiting to get approved for like 5 days but it will be worth it when you finally get your free ipod.

I know what the terms and conditions are and I know that we are subject to them.

All I'm saying is that people can't say it is free, because it really isn't.

Hmm... Well the batteries ARE actually replaceable.

Just look at this http//www.ipodbatteryfaq.com/#2

If you don't want to risk doing that, you can always get a Sony 20 gb walkman, one of the Creative Zens, iRiver, and many other worthy alternatives.

EDIT You can even put in new batteries that last longer and have more power than the stock batteries.

CollidgeGraduit you are the man, you stand up for common sence and reason, something that most people in this forum lack. That whole 'my state isn't shipped yet' is total horse shit as well as this making a movie that freeipods is a scam. I guess we should expect nothing more from 12 year old kids.
