Any one check their messages on any freepay site?

[be25d7a88e8] Important Change to Terms & Conditions

li With a start date of March 1, 2006 – users of FreePay websites have 90 days to complete all offer requirements.

li Upon completion of all offer requirements, existing users will need to print a “Redemption Form” that must be filled out in its entirety and mailed with a postmarked date no later than 30 days of completing their offer requirements.

You will find an indication of how many days you have left to complete the requirements on the Status page. When you have completed the requirements you will be able to download the redemption form from the Status page. [/be25d7a88e8]

90 days to get all your refferals? What a fucking joke.

Redemption forms? So now I have to print out a piece of paper and wait 30 days for it go through?

Dude, Im only touching trainn sites from now on. I dont want another ipod anyway, I'd rather just take paypal.

No, it says you need to fill out the form and send it in WITHIN 30 days of your account approval.

Jake, I'm a little confused by this. Does this form apply to people currently processing or pending approval, or just those who submit for approval after 3/1? (BTW, I'm still in "Pending Approval" after being in "Processing" for months.)

I'm curious to see how this will affect people that are in the middle of the process. I started my ipods site like 2 years ago, but didn't get three greens until this january. Does that mean i'm screwed? I still need to get 2, better hurry.

This should apply to new accounts, it seems. Or at least start the 90 day timer now for all accounts, regardless of how old they are.

these are the questions I had - post I did was locked -- but I think Jake it sums up everyones concerns ...

[quotee1cadc1f86]How will this affect those of us that registered for sites months ago and now wish to start them? Do the 90 days start as of 3/1 or when we registered? (very bad for me as I have sites that I am now starting that i signed up for many months ago for trades) Better yet -- are the sites that we signed up for before 3/1 not included in this change since they were done before the TOS change?

Last but not least -- what happens to those of us who were approved months ago for a 360 - that are now pending approval again and have been waiting for over 90 days? [/quotee1cadc1f86]

I think we should be grandfathered in ...

mpbollywoodking

90 days is not enough. What they should do is after 90 days, they should have the user send in verification again, and they have 30 days to send that in, or their account will be deleted. That makes more sense

But, to get 8 referrals in 90 days, aahhh, that is too short of time

Oh well. Guess I won't be doing any freepay sites after the next 90 days go by, except for handbags, shuffles, and macminis, since i've never signed up for those.

Unless of course I can finish some of them up within the next 90 days... But getting 8 refs (through trading) to green over the next 90 days, especially with manual credits taking AT LEAST 15 days, would be really difficult. Looks like your best bet in completing a site is to start all 8 ref trades going the first week you sign up in case you get screwed by manual credit issues or scammers on the board. I guess freepay's about to have a big dropoff in the number of people completing sites after the next 90 days are up.

doylnea

01-03-2006 11:11:07

I would guess the reason that they're doing this is because it helps to prevent Fraud (ie, if you're someone's referral, move houses and be another referral for the same site). In addition, having open/unfinished accounts out there likely counts as a charge against their balance sheet, and they'd prefer to have as little outstanding "debt" as possible. Finally, expiring these accounts, assures Freepay of never having to pay out on them (for example if I went and paid $25 for each of my last premiumipod referrals, since I've already done my offer).

FWIW, I think this policy needs a lot more explanation, and our CS note should have had significantly more explanation. Further I believe (and this is self-preserving) that anyone who has signed up for a site to do should be grandfathered in. I can't, however, imagine a scenario where Freepay decides (for example) that because I signed up for FreeHandbags 6 months ago, completed my offer and have 1 referral, that my time to complete the site has already expired.

I foresee Freepay saying that anyone who has an open/unfinished account from 03/01/06 forward has 90 days to get all of their referrals.

Scenario 1)
Unlimited time to complete refs. Flyer, AIM link, it takes you a year. But you have a shiny free product.

Scenario 2)
You sign up. Within the first week you buy/trade 4 refs here for your product. (83 days left). You send in your thinggy. One goes black. 4 weeks + mailing time, 50 days left. WTF, you don't know what to do. So you go sign up at your "buddy's"

4 weeks for approval
[quote97d6f9decb]29 days left[/quote97d6f9decb]
1 ref goes black (and is long gone on this forum with the trade money)
7 days to find a new ref
[quote97d6f9decb]22 days left[/quote97d6f9decb]
3 days to send in for approval... again
[quote97d6f9decb]19 days left[/quote97d6f9decb]
Lets hope that it gets processed in those 19 days since it's only 2.7 weeks

You'd think that they would have added some sort of automation to the process. YFD has a barcode. I mean seriously. How hard would it be to remove that "please fill in your 8 digit account number into these 7 spaces" with a bar code? My mom (who got an ipod through refs at work) would have never gotten hers under the new conditions.

Further, reading into this a bit more, Freepay is now almost certainly going to be requiring a W9 if the total value of items you earn over the course a year exceeds $600, now that they have an easy record of your items...

song

01-03-2006 11:55:06

this is the push other companies needed that compete against you to gain more people to their site. Think about it. Take trainn for example... same amount of refs for a prize. Only difference is freepay requires you to do it withing 90 and trainn you can come back in a year and finish it off.

Personally I would suggest maybe 1 ref goes green within 90 days the counter resets.

This way it still eliminates the inactive accounts and gives people a chance to complete the high ref based sites you have there.

so...should I just make an 8th box on my form and send it in or will I find out 4 weeks later that I shouldn't have done that and have to send it again?

That's awful what FreePay is doing.

What about this message

Although you have the minimum number of referred friends needed to get your FREE iPod nano, our records indicate that you joined less than 30 days ago. According to our Terms and Conditions, you cannot request approval until your account is older then 30 days. Please check back after 5/13/2006 on this page to continue to the next stage.

Why until May 13th? And not 30 days after I signed up?

Also, I applied for approval yesterday ( Feb 28 ), what does this mean in terms of these "approval" forms? Will I have to send one in. I am thinking (and hoping) not because I signed up and completed everything before March 1st.

Trainn has already proved they can handle themselves better in the 360 regard, by shipping out and offering Paypal. I'm sure if they made a change such as this, it would be..well..a bit more thought out? Exhibit A the form has room for a 7 digit user id, some people have 8. Im still missing the fraud angle here. Freepay doesn't care about fraud directly. They only care about fraud if the referred companies find out that individual users are signing up multiple times. I'm sure freepay encourages n( not openly) fraud so long as the user doesn't get caught by the referred companies. If I were to signup twice for the same site and get away with it. Freepay doesnt get effected in fact they benefit from getting paid twice from the referred company.

The only reason I can now think of why freepay dislikes fraud is that they have an excuse as to why they can't send us our gifts.

ya Im aware of that. Why I said you only care indirectly.

Take for example. All of us scam freepay. Ref companies never find out. Win win situation for us and freepay.

on the other hand - all of us skeem but get caught. Freepay lose and we lose.

I'm also asssuming that when we go for approval you validate all of our referrals and see if they are legit. Wouldn;t that process put us in the clear. Haven't the ref companies already conceded at this point that it is a unique user and they are willing to pay for the referral. Why is freepay double or trip[le checking when the companies have already signed off

If not, that's BS, especially if the approval process can take UP TO 4 WEEKS. That's 1/3 of the time in which you have to complete the entire set of requirements. Between that 4 week waiting period and the 15 business day wait to request manuals, that 7 weeks or 49 days eaten up already by bureaucracy. And that's not even a worst-case scenario. I kinda think this is their way to stop Trading. Cuz basically what happens is. Lets say i do someones ipodshuffles freepay offer. and they do my laptops freepay. Now im gonna spend about 2 months workin on this laptop offer, and then will not have time to focus on the shuffle, so therefore the 90 days will expire from the offer that i did for the other guy, and now i will now longer be able to do shuffles.
