Yeah, it's just a bunch of pictures. I don't think the iPod Photo has video capability.

Well, this is good news. It means that the iPod photo is at least capable of playing a video. Someone just has to write the firmware for it.

do you really think that someone would do that? that would definately be awesome, though the current method of playing back video on the photopod seems kinda like a pain in the ass

Ya, he just had different stills of that star wars trailer, then used the scroll wheel so it came to life. Sort of like an animation flip book. It is highly plausible that the iPod photo could get tweaked to play video though. I'm sure it'd be limited though, like only a certain type of format could be played on it, battery life would go down the toilet. The screens too small anyway, why would you guys wanna watch videos on a 2 inch LCD? That'd make you go blind. Apple is a big scam, I'm sure they're already planning to release a new iPod with a built in camera, then a few months later they'll release the iPod VIDEO with a CAMERA ... then maybe the new "slimmer ipod video MINI" then the iPod with a built in Mac OS.....The price will double of course with each release. lol They should really work on giving the iPods bigger LCD screens, that would make it a good video device.

The photoipod has a slide show feature. The idea is that you take a movie, slice it thin (so to speak) and then play it as a slide show.

I have a feeling he was trying to prove a point. The simple fact that it can display photos quickly enough while playing audio shows that it definitely has the hardware capability for playing videos, provided they're encoded correctly. Now this may not seem like much on a 2" screen but it does plug into your TV already and I think I'd be much more likely to bring a whole season of The Family Guy over to a friend's house to watch than to bring my vacation photos.
