Just like the flatscreens site, I feel that FreeDigitalCameras needs an updated gift selection as well. None of the cameras on there are worth 10 referrals ($500). Even your gift selection for Canadians is better. Some newer cameras would probably attract a lot more people to do the site too, as people probably won't be motivated to get 10 referrals for cameras that have been around for so long and aren't worth as much. Can you at least put this in as a suggestion for me Jake?

yeah. Same here... I think that the most priced item is the Nikon CoolPix 7900 which can go around 400 bucks I think... so yeah... the price versus number of referrals is not that good as the others I think... maybe it's just me...

Well it's just that the camera selection hasn't been updated in a while. The particular camera models go down in value over time... it's like if they were still offering 3rd or 4th gen iPods on the iPod sites instead of updating to the newer ones. wink

I am sure the cameras will be a lot better but if not, Jake may be able to still get you that camera. I would PM him directly and ask just to make sure. Unfortunately not. Those cameras seem to be very difficult to find. I have seen some vendors who offer them but they either cost way too much money or are refurbished models.
The 7900 is part of the reason we are updating.
I think that you might like the cameras we are putting up.

I agree, I hate how proprietary Sony is too. However, that happens to be a small part of the reason I'm going for a Sony - I have a 512mb Memory Stick Pro Duo that I got for $20 back on Black Friday when I thought I'd be getting my DSCT7 from Freepay (the last green always takes forever, eh?).
That aside though, it's very close between the DSC-N1 and the SD550. Check out that side-by-side I linked to if you haven't already. They each just barely edge each other out on certain specs and it really comes down to which few features you consider more important. Either way, they're very similar cameras and you really can't go wrong with either.

Right now I'm leaning towards the SD550.
The touch screen is cool and all. But I have a perfectly good 2MP that I got ages ago that has a busted LCD, but everything still works fine.
No Optical View Finder. This is going to be a bar/party camera. If I'm drunk I don't care if the LCD is on. Plus no LCD on means battery life goes up pretty quickly.
1GB memory is $16 cheaper (according to Dealram as of today)
15 second exposure. maybe I'll do some amature night stuff.
I have a 2 MP. One of the student organizations has a 4 MP. at 7.1MP, I'm not even going to notice 0.9 MP.
Looking at the sample pictures I'm absolutely blown away, by both of them. But given above. I'm leaning towards a SD550

Yeah, same here. It said the Olympus so I just changed it to the Powershot if worse comes to worse. We should be able to get the N1 though. We not only placed our orders before they changed it but they had the N1 on there and said it would be available. I PMed Jake twice, I am sure we will get an answer to this by tomorrow.

The problem is though that it doesn't even show the N1 on the digitalcameras page anymore. They updated it finally with the cameras that Jake said they would have. It showed all of them and then like 1 hour later, the N1 was replaced by the T7. When I go to order history where it is processing, it used to show the N1 and now it doesn't show anything and when you mouse over, it is blank. Something must have happened with the availability or something. I will probably get the SD550 and sell it or something since I doubt it will be good news from Jake about the N1.
