pda screen protectors are pretty good, you can go to a local staples, office depot, office max and get some around 10 bux for about 5 sheets.

Don't use those, when you take them off ur screen is fucked up. It leaves the residue.

my friend Wembley (who liboughtli his ipod, idiot ) ) took his to our student book store and had a friend shrink wrap his... if you just wrap the shrink around the screen/wheel it works pretty well. Well, i should disclaimer this, he only had his shrinkwrapped for a few days, till he got his Iskin... but it looked pretty tight to me.

i forgot to mention that it depends on which ones you use. I've used the ones from Fellowes and they're pretty clean.

I use Fellowes PDA protectors for ALL my stuff - Palm Pilot, digicam LCD, iPod, cell phone LCDs...I'm a little obsessive about keeping scratches off the parts I have to look at the most. P

What you need to do is look at the clearance tables at Staples, Office Depot, and OfficeMax. They usually markdown outdated Fellowes screen protectors for old handhelds, like Visors and old Clies. A 12-pack is around $20 regular price, but on clearance can be as low as $3. Fellowes makes two different kinds - smooth and textured. The smooth ones are good for protecting everything, but the textured ones work just find for the display and hide air bubbles a little bit better.

One protector is big enough to provide two or three cuts for just the display. Palm m5xx and V series protectors are big enough to use 1.25 protectors on the back of the iPod (I just wanted to protect the back and the LCD). They don't leave a residue of any sort, but you do have to make sure that the surface you're putting them on is COMPLETELY clean - they're impossible to reposition without getting dust and/or fingerprints on the sticky side.

I use a photo cutter thing from Creative Memories (my stepmom is into scrapbooking) to cut the protectors, which gets a really nice and clean line, but a straightedge and a razor blade will do just as well. Just have some patience when actually applying them to the display.
