Well my buddy just got his 40 gig photoPod. He also has the 20 gig version (4G).
The thickness is a definite fractor. .57 vs 75 is significant when looking at it. When i placed them in my pants pocket i could not tell the difference. The Screen is VERY nice. The real question, is it worth the extra 100 bucks? I think a major advantage is the extra battery life which is obviously from the thicker battery.

i say it's not worth it. maybe if it was a little cheaper, and just in color, instead of "oh, you can store a bajillion pictures too", but i'll pass for now.

i think its worth it, the screen is really cool, plus its 3 more hours of battery

don't get me wrong, i love the way the screen looks, but $100 more for that? come on, maybe $50 more and i'll think about it, but 100 is too much for that

[quote5e38034feb="Rainman"]You mean an extra $200[/quote5e38034feb]
No i meant 100, i was writing that on the assumtption you were already exchanging it for the 40 gig model.

It's not like you [i4a0ff06174]have[/i4a0ff06174] to store photos on it! Hell, use all 40/60GBs for music, it doesn't matter... It's just an added feature, why the hell [i4a0ff06174]wouldn't[/i4a0ff06174] you have photo viewing capabilities when you have a color screen?? I think it'd be dumb NOT to have photo viewing capabilities. Plus it's nice if you have a family gathering and you have a bunch of photos from last summer's vacation that you can hook up to a big tv and view a slideshow--no computer or extra periphials required, i think that's a very big plus.

And to clear up the $100/$200 issue for anyone that's confused
the 40GB regular ipod is $399.
the 40GB ipod photo is $499.
This is where we're getting the [b5a19f91392]$100[/b5a19f91392] more from.
If you're exchanging your (free 20GB) ipod for the (not free 40GB photoipod), it's a difference of [b5a19f91392]$200[/b5a19f91392] (or $169 with a student discount).
